Boomerang~Junkie Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Genuine 1950 Fender Broadcaster - $55,000 (KC area)http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/5333861716.htmlNo affiliation. WAY out of my price range even with the sale of a kidney.FYI - this has been listed for sale on CL in the KC area for a few months now.
Biz Prof Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The seller is uneducated as to Fender's early manufacturing practices if he thinks that serial number corresponds with that guitar's place in the order of construction.
Boomerang~Junkie Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 The ad verbiage and photos gave me the impression that its "granddad's" guitar they came across in his stuff after he died and they know little about. Also the "rented storage space" or "crap filled cluttered basement" look of the ad photos don't inspire confidence that it has been stored well over the past few decades.I have no idea or knowledge regarding the accurate value of Fenders of that era. If its real, its a cool guitar either way.
Jakeboy Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 My neck of the woods. I hope it's real.I just want the pickups, but they belong in the guitar.....
Biz Prof Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Those pickups probably do sound righteous if they are in good condition. The pickups in Vince Gill's '53 are original, and that guitar, in his hands and plugged into a loud tube amp, sounds incredible.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 If that was all original, BIG $$$$ .......................the refin takes a good deal of the value away ...............something is only original once and when collectors/players go looking for these types of guitars that can bring huge prices they want it original and as is............it will now always be a refin even if its restored. This is a senior family members old guitar that the family now knows its worth some $$$$ based on what they read on the internet somewhere.............the pictures lend themselves to a lost and found kind of thing that has not been particularly well cared for. Is it cool? sure is, but for that kind of $$$ good luck they will never see it.
Teh Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 As AoH says, the refin killed it. Maybe worth 10% of what they're asking now, and I would seriously question that...
