Speaker recommendation

Hey folks.  I recently scared up a Marshall DSL40 for the right price.  To cut to the chase, I like it a lot except....

The stock speaker is a Celestion 70/80.  Overall, the amp is kind of "fizzy", as is its nature.  The speaker seems to be exacerbating this to quite some degree, though.  At the time I bought it, I had the chance to A/B it with the same amp with a Celestion Creamback 65.  The one with the creamback sounded veiled, less immediacy and weaker overall. BUT, I think that may have been due at least in part to the amp itself.  Tubes? components?  I dunno.  It just didn't have the grunt that the 70/80 one did. I didn't have the option of "put this speaker in that amp" to give each speaker a fair shake.  But there you are.

So what might be a good option to replace that 70/80 with something with a smoother top end?  As it is, I'm running the thing in "GE Smith mode", treble and presence all the way off.

the WGS v30 clone is way better than a celestion v30, I am sure they will ohm it up to your needs.

fwiw, I dislike V30's. BUT, they sound good in my Bogner cab paired with the 75's, and when I tested, A/B'd speakers when WGS is in town for the annual gear expo, they always out shined the newer asian celestions, esp there v30 clone.... way better.

What's the 12" equivalent of the Ragin' Cajun? (might be the Texas Heat? Not sure) That would tame the highs.

WGS G12CS is the answer and maybe the right fit.

A little PS:  I got the WGS Veteran 30 and popped it in.  Even though it's still breaking in, that was the ticket.  A Classic 30 with the irritating taken out.    It bought me some clean headroom too.
