Confirmation on Hamer model

Hey Guys,

I'm after some confirmation on what model my Hamer is. I've had it for about 10 years and from the serial number it was made in 1991.

I always thought it was a Californian because of the scalloped cutaways but the lack of 27 frets makes me think it is a Chaparral Elite. But I haven't seen a picture of a Chaparral elite with scalloped cutaways and the mix of boomerang and dot inlays.

I was also thinking that maybe it is a mix of neck and bodies from different models?

Any extra information to satisfy my curiosity about this guitar would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Thats a Chapparel Deluxe, in a rather fetching metallic purple :)

EMGs plus the offset dots on an ebony board with 2 Boomerangs Point to that.

Welcome to the HFC BTW!

Welcome kevorkian!  I can see why you could be confused - I am too.  I always thought that offset dots were the sign of a Centaura.  Not in this case?

Being a deluxe, mid venture that it's somewhat unusual, not hens teeth rare, but definitely uncommon. More uncommon than the elites with full boomerang inlays right up the fingerboard, which ironically were probably more expensive.

Complete example with made up numbers: perhaps it's like standard is $1000, and elite is $1500 with arguably posher appointments, you'd need to be a brave buyer to take a deluxe at $1,350 :)

i do do love the centaura deluxe I managed to extract from Nathan :)

I've got two Chaparral Deluxes. Black cherry sparkle and black sparkle. A cool Chap variation. Especially with the Californian-esque scalloped cutaways. I dig the purple. Would make a nice companion for my purple sparkle LE Californian Elite.

Thanks for the welcomes and Thanks BennyBoy for the info. It is good to know what I have.

So the Deluxe sits between the Standard and the Elite model of Chaparral?
