Detachable power cord question.

You know the ones - they're on every computer and a lot of amps nowadays. Like this:

So the question came up: What are they called? Is there an actual name for them? And where can you find them that are flexable enough to unwind mostly flat (like a normal extension cord), instead of in a stiff curly lumpy wad?

That is a:

NEMA 5-15P to IEC C13 Standard Power Cord

Most all of them now are made with PVC jackets and insulation rather than rubber. Those are the ones that turn to stone when they get cold. I use 16 AWG (American Wire Gauge) 3-conductor cable and make my own.

Music people usually call them "power cables" or "NEMA cables".

People who work in lighting call them "Edisons".
