Artist Ultimate Case

Is anyone aware of any issues with the Artist Ultimate case? Every time I put the guitar in mine the strings and the gold hardware start to corrode almost immediately. It only started after splitting up with my ex and I suspect she sabotaged it (my guess is battery acid by the smell).

I'd neutralize it with baking soda or something and the clean the crap out of it!! Some girls just gotta be haters

Is it possible that your ex put cat urine in the case?  The singer in one of my bands had a cat pee in his microphone case, and after trying everything to get the smell out, he eventually just threw the case away.

Is there anything on the guitar or in the case that could be similar to old cellulose/celluloid nitrate pickguard material? The stuff that outgasses a substance that corrodes metal? I had an old archtop with a pickguard of that material and every time I opened the case it smelled like acid. Once I got wise I removed the pickguard and stored it far away from anything it could harm. The pickguard eventually rotted to the point that I just threw it away.

Not unless she rounded up a cat and I wouldn't put it past her, talk about vindictive! Smells more like she got her bike battery acid and put it on the lid lining. Have ended up binning the case.

Nah, the only thing in the case was the guitar it came with, got a new case for Christmas so problem solved! 😀
