Agreed.  The Dean “Beer Guitars” were really just wall-hangers (the gawd awful Bud Bowtie, the Busch Mountains, etc.).   Not something worth playing, really.

The timing was exceptionally good, but I got my dad a bowtie guitar and bass for his office wall under $600 total, IIRC.  He did Bud's advertising for over 40 years so it made sense.  No idea what happened to them after he retired.  The Strat wasn't half bad, at least the one I played.
