Trans Tint Recommendations

I’m about to embark on my first finish projects using wood dyes, and wondered if anyone has recommendations for trans tint stains.

I have used Keda powdered dye in denatured alcohol for tinting necks.  Find it tricky to repeat color mixes with powder, though.

Amazon has a Mixol party pack w/every color of liquid dye. Anyone use this before?

Open to TransTint, ColorTone, etc. but these options get expensive. Wondered if there is enough of a benefit to justify the extra cost?

My projects include a couple of custom order bodies from KnE Guitars (can’t speak highly enough of Mitch/team!). One is a “flattop” Charvel tribute for me (4A 1/4” flame cap, maho core), and the other is a lefty 1pc maho Charvel-inspired tele for my son. He wants one of the Gojira Joe Duplantier Charvels (natural finish version), but they don’t offer a lefty - so I’m gonna make him one .

The wood availability varies, but definitely ask him what's bumping around the shop if/when you pursue something.  He will spec out almost anything you could conceivably want in a build. I was thrilled to get my son's tele body as a 1pc slab. Its a nice and light piece too.

I was thinking about having a high grade quilt SD body (sans the binding) made for that old reverse head neck, but might hold out a bit and try to ferret out an original body to refin for that one...

As if I need any more projects 🙃
