HSB0531 Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I have a 2010 Standard 12-string bass and I just noticed that the rear part of the tailpiece is lifted slightly off the body. Is this a common occurrence? Is there a fix for this?
topekatj Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Cool photo (reflection), I assume there’s a row of anchor screws that are intended to hold the L bracket (where the strings anchor) flat against the body. For starters, loosen the strings and see if those screws are tight.

I got scared because there's some 12-string bass site where someone mentioned the "flawed" design of this particular tailpiece and the back end lifting off the body.

JK, glad that is all there was to it! is the bass black? Let’s see some photos!

If it's somebody on the 12 String Bass site, then it's probably because they're a shill for Waterstone (or even worse, MusicVOX!!).
crunchee Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Rickenbacker basses with the old-style molded potmetal bridge housing did that too...back in the late '70's/early '80's, RIC put two extra screws at the end of the bridge housing to keep the housing from lifting at the butt end of the bass due to string tension, but for some reason they quit using those screws in the '90s. Their newest bass bridges are now a different design.

Yes I think it was that site, and the classic "my buddy came up with a cool fix by drilling more holes in it and adding more screws" or something to that effect.
