DaveL Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Hi, I'm doing alot of work aging guitar parts... I find myself needing to swap out/replace set screws, intonation screws from stainless to nickel... is there a relatively cheap thread checker for both US and metric thread sizes? (like 4-40 and M3 etc) Thanks, Dave

There will be some that have 4-40 but then the metric cuts off before m3 EDIT: I did search mini thread checker and had one that seems to have the sizes I wanted. but thank you
Hbom Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Cheapest I know is at Homedepot. But it can be a pain driving down there all the time StewMac has a good one but not inexpensive. If you have decent tap & die set you can make your own for the smaller sizes.
Dave Scepter Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 I just use existing screws I have to determine or go to my localAce Hardware store "Free"😉

I ended up grabbing a cheap one and a slightly nicer one from Amazon. Tele saddles are all over the place. I will check out my local ace. btw: I found a nice website that sells old timey screws and bolts a lot with nickel plate. Pretty reasonable. Blacksmithbolt.com
