santellavision Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Just wanted to pass this good deal along. Sweetwater has their limited edition 'Vintage Orange' G5420TG-59 on sale. I have one of these and I love the crap out of it. Great guitar, plays great, looks cool and sounds very nice, like a nice old gretsch. topekatj Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Seems like a remarkable deal — so the knob at the cutaway is a master tone knob, on top of a shared tone knob by the volume knobs?
BadgerDave Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 If it has the traditional Gretsch wiring, the knob at the cutaway is a master volume. The controls at the rear are individual volume for each pickup and a master tone, similar to the usual Hamer model. On my Gretsch Jet I disconnected the Master volume from the circuit. I found it completely useless.
The Shark Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Bought this one just a week or so ago. Really good guitar. Rings like a bell and has that great cocked-wah sound with the tone control dialed back. Shaw design pickups.
crunchee Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 From looking at the Sweetwater ad, I gather that the Electromatic series is currently made in China, and no longer in Korea?
santellavision Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 Mine was made in Korea. I googled around and it seems they switched from Korea to China manufacture in 2021. I didn't seem to find any reviews on quality differences if any.
