Killer Deal on Blackheart 112 combo amps

Hey Guys,

Music123.com has a killer deal on the Blackheart 1x12 combos.

Regular price is 249.99 shipped. They are offering an instant $75 rebate on purchases of $250 of more.

So, buy a Blackheart combo and a 5 cent pick (to get over $250), and pay only 175 for the Blackheart combo, shipped to your door.

These are great little amps, BTW. I bought two :-)

I don't know. They're not in stock (says special order) and even though it shows the discount when you put the amp in the cart, the rules of the discount thing say that Blackheart chose not to participate in the sale.

I really wanted a Bose.

Are you sure you're looking at the right website? I see the combos in stock and when I put one in my cart along with something else cheap to get me over $250, the discount automatically applies. I don't see Blackheart mentioned in the list of excluded brands, either:

And I was looking at the 1/2 stack, not the combo.

The 1x12 combo definitely qualifies for the rebate.

They sound much better than the Epi Valve Jr's. They have a full tone stack (bass, middle, treble) and also 4, 8 and 16 ohms outputs.

This is a no brainer guys.

How's the clean?

I'll tell you in a few days....I just ordered one. For $175 delivered, figured it was worth a shot. The couple of demos I heard online sounded pretty good for the money.

I just placed an online order for the half stack and it gave me the discount. It's back ordered though. I hope the wait is not long. Actually, I 1st ordered the combo, but changed my mind so I canceled it and went with the half stack. I plan using it to learn more about tube amp design and doing mods, so I figured it will be easier to work with a head and cab combo. The chassis of my valve junior combo has been out of the cabinet for a while...

Well, there ya go.

I have some other things on my radar that I'd probably use a lot more anyway. Too bad the rebate isn't good on any of it!

I went online yesterday and put together an order but didn't have my credit card with me at the office so I cancelled out of it. When I logged in again today the $75 off had changed to $50, but they still had my $75 discount saved with my order...so it's on the way...with a dozen Dunlop Tortex picks for a total of $178!

Mojo and Mercury have some cool upgrade kits...maybe I'll get the time and money to do those before the next 4-3-2-1 club...otherwise it'll be a tone report on the all stock version.

Nice, I bought a .99 cardboard music stand to get to the $250 threshold.

I phucked up and tried to order an item tonight. Went down to 50 savings. I called them and they wouldn't do anything. My bad. I'll wait till the price comes down.

I got one of the two I ordered yesterday.

Build quality is surprisingly impressive. Cab very solid, and amp guts VERY well done. Oversized resistors, very heavy circuit board, etc.

Stock tubes (EL84, 12AX7) are Chinese and blow. Replace these immediately. HUGE difference. Wow, this amp really sounds botique!

I was able to A/B the stock speaker to a Celestion Blue and Celestion G12H-30. I much preferred the Celestions.

Bottom line: This was a tone monster running it with Mullards through the Celestion Blue. Very very nice.

Conclusion: The basic amp (circuit, x-formers) etc is a rock solid, first rate, dirt cheap platform to build off of.

Did you run yours with NOS Mullards or new ones? I've seen some NOS out there for more than the amp cost!

thanks for the heads up.. i just ordered a head, then i'll buy a speaker and make a wooden combo of some sort.. it said they'd have more in stock feb. 14... I've never heard of these amps till i saw this post, so thanks again for the info...

I received my combo yesterday, and I am definitely going to keep it. It sounds pretty good, both through the original speaker, and through an external cab (which is, of course, better). There is an amazing amount of low end on this small combo. It has a brittle, 'trashy' high end if you turn the volume up past 8, but that is what bigger amps are for anyway. I'm looking forward to trying out some different tubes.

I agree that the stock amp has this issue.

However this amp REALLY likes Celestion G12H-30's...they tame the high end a lot an dteh amp sounds great. The G12H-30's sound even better than the Celestion Blues and Golds I tried in this amp.

I tried both a 70th anniversary G12H-30 (75 hz cone)and the Heritage G12H-30 (55 hz cone). Both worked great but the Heritage really is a fantastic match to this amp.

I also found (surprisingly) that it sounds a bit better using 8 ohm speakers through teh 8 ohm tap, than 16 ohm speakers through the 16 ohm tap. Go figure.

The tubes are an important part of getting rid of that trashy hi end when cranked. Almost everything will be better than the Chinese tubes it shipped with.

UPS brought mine on Friday and I had a little time to mess with it over the weekend.

mrmojorising is 150% right about the tubes. If you buy one, don't even turn it on until you replace those Chinese tubes. I put in Mesa relabeled Russian tubes and the difference was like night and day.

Speaking of changing tubes, getting in there was like opening a bank vault! No wood screws...actual machine screws (12 of 'em) going into threaded steel inserts. This thing is built like a tank.

I'm thinking about doing the Mojo turret board kit that, among other things, converts it to a tube rectifier.
