  1. Just as influential are the guys I've played with in my various bands throughout the years.
  2. Go here: http://www.callahamguitars.com/partstel.htm I used the Callaham Vintage T Model Tele Bridge Assembly w/ 3 Brass Slant Compensated Saddles which is about halfway down the page.
  3. I don't know about the nitro, but I liked my stock bridge alright. Nevertheless, I replaced it with a traditional Callaham Tele bridge which I like even better. No additional drilling was necessary.
  4. That's quite the wide variety of headgear!
  5. "Can't we just settle this here in Brainerd?"
  6. People complain about packing peanuts all the time. Yet 95% of the packages I've received are cushioned with... fucking packing peanuts. >
  7. I was going to post my own thread about this, but this will work just as well: My favorite unknown band is Glossary and they are offering their brand new album for FREE via download on their website. You don't have to register or give any of your information, but they do request people to sign up for their mailing list. Before anyone says they hopped on the Radiohead bandwagon, to be fair Glossary announced their plan to make the new record available for free via download three weeks ago. Maybe Radiohead hopped on the Glossary bandwagon! Yeah, I know, probably not. Anyway, Glossary is a band from Murfreesboro, TN with a very alt-country / Southern rock sound I absolutely die for. If you like Drive By Truckers, Lucero, Two Cow Garage, The Drams, Centro-matic, etc. then these guys will be right up your alley. In fact, when I saw Patterson Hood performing solo at the Austin City Limits Music Festival a couple of weeks ago, he was wearing a Glossary t-shirt. The band is highly respected within the genre and last year's For What I Don't Become was my favorite 2006 release. Joey Kneiser's smokey vocals combined with Bingham Barnes' rock solid foundation and Todd Beene's occasional pedal steel make for a sublime combination. Download the new album, The Better Angles of Our Nature, for free here: http://www.glossary.us/the-better-angels-o...-free-download/ It's available as medium or high quality MP3s or AACs. The physical CD will be released in three weeks and they'll be doing some shows with The Drams, Grand Champeen and Two Cow Garage in November. If you like the new record, go to a show and/or buy the CD when it comes out.
  8. For acoustic, it's almost always "If Only You Were Lonely" which is an old b-side by The Replacements (although it was really just Paul on acoustic guitar). Great lyrics with cowboy chords in the verses and a jazzy little progression in the chorus.
  9. "We Didn't Do It" - Tegan & Sara "Little Miss Lover" - Jimi Hendrix "Dream Lover" - Big Star "Whiskey in a Jar" - The Pogues "Hummingbird" - Wilco "Unmade Bed / No Quarter" - The Flaming Lips "Evening Sun" - The Strokes "Mary's New Car" - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers "Wreck on the Highway" - Bruce Springsteen "I'm Gonna Sit on the Porch and Pick on My Old Guitar" - Johnny Cash
  10. AT&T has a 5 year exclusive contract with the iPhone, so not anytime soon. Ridiculous.
  11. Nine Fifty is appearing Wednesday night at Abbey Pub in Chicago at 7:30pm The Rolls perform Thursday night at Abbey Pub at 11:15pm Both shows are part of the International Pop Overthrow festival and will be half hour long showcases with five other bands playing. Hamers will be rocking.
  12. +1. They are my favorite active band (this title previously held by Pavement and The Replacements). If you like The Dirty South, SRO and Gangstabilly, you might as well own the entire catalog which means you need: Pizza Deliverance, Decoration Day and last year's Blessing and a Curse. There's also an old live album, Alabama Ass Whuppin' which is good, but not great. Although it does have their outstanding cover of "People Who Died". +1 for The Raconteurs, too. That ACL show was the only decent episode of ACL all season with the exception of Ray Davies. I was fortunate to see them at the ACL festival last year, too. For those who like DBT, I highly recommend Glossary from Murfreesboro, TN. You probably won't find their records at Best Buy, but they are worth seeking out. Get last year's For What I Don't Become and their previous effort How We Handle Our Midnights. www.glossary.us www.myspace.com/glossary
  13. I love that guitar. The P-90ish pups, single cut and sustain block are where it's at. How much is it gonna run to actually buy one of those new? I'm sure I'll have to wait a few years until people start selling them...
  14. Or the Triple P-90 Standard with the single victory inlay. Drool!
  15. Did I miss the sold note on the Martin Backpacker? If not: $$? The Backpacker sold right before Christmas along with a bunch of other pedals. I can't edit the title, otherwise I would!
  16. +1 for Live at Leeds. I haven't heard the entire double disc with their complete performance of Tommy live from that show, but the two songs I have heard blow the lame recorded versions away. Of course, the worst live album I've ever heard is also courtesy of The Who and it's Who's Last. Atrocious. My favorite live album of all time is Dylan's Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue. He was touring for the Desire album at the time and the songs from that record sound 100x better live than they do on the studio album. I wouldn't go so far as to say the earlier material sounds better live, but much of it is reinvented and reinvigorated.
