jujisque Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 So ... the Phantom just doesn't get played like it used to. It is one of the most versatile guitars I have ever played, but, even if it sounds impossible, I have found one that is even more versatile. So, not being the #1 in that role anymore, it doesn't get played a lot. The other one that I have found just doesn't quite get that strat vibe, and I have always wanted a good strat if even just for kicks and to have a tremolo. So, I would like to trade this Phantom for a rosewood fretboard (preferably alder) Daytona ... plus or minus cash if things look uneven. Disclaimer: things may not be that uneven since the Phantom had a headstock crack back in the day even before I bought it from the dealer. I am the original owner and will post pics of the headstock crack and some more recent ones later tonight or tomorrow when I am no longer at work. It is cleanly repaired. It doesn't look too pretty, but you really can't feel it when playing ... and, as we know, headstock repairs are perfectly stable. Edit: Guitar is now up for outright sale. I got a great deal on it back in the day when I first bought it so I feel good about passing that on. I am asking $590 + shipping and am per fectly willing to be flexible on payment types. I am going to return it to stock (put the JB back in the bridge), but if you would like me to leave the humbucker in that is there, we can negotiate that.
jujisque Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Here are some more recent photos and a photo of the headstock crack (that is the one with the link ... for whatever reason, Photobucket was loading it wrong). Anyway, hope that gives more info. Feel free to PM me with other ideas or questions. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3563/329985...607ecc8.jpg?v=0
jujisque Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 BTT... if I get no other trade offers by the end of the day, then I will open this up to outright sale (sorry to defer answering your question BubbaVO)
jujisque Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 BTTGuitar is now up for outright sale.
carfish7 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I can't vouch for the repair on this one, but it sure is a pretty slab of wood and if fixed professionally should be just fine and dandy. I think buying busted guitars and rocking them hard is cool - no worries about being all "precious" with 'em!Good luck with the sale/minor bump.CJ
jujisque Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Bump.I plan on measuring the neck tonight and putting on some new strings. I'll post the measurements when I get to it.
serial Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 $590?! And that one's still around? Wow-beautiful guitar!Good luck with the sale. Prototypes and the 90s Phantoms are killer guitars. Very versatile.

jujisque Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 BTTIs the headstock crack scaring everybody? or is it just rough times? I can assure any fence sitters that this was a professional repair and that it doesn't affect anything but the visual, and then even only on the back of the neck (doesn't go through to the front). Thanks all! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday. I am loving the warmer weather here out west. Sorry to those of you in the deep freeze in the east.
