ZR Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I have a nice USA Hamer Daytona w/ Rosewood board in transparent blue Ash (w/ nice grain), locking tuners, Seymour Duncan APS-II Alnico 2 pickups, aluminum rear cavity plates etc. and all the other great things Hamer puts into a guitar. The Sperzel locking tuners have staggered heights for more uniform string angle over the nut as usual. Most of you guys already know this stuff but some newbies might not know all the features a Daytona has. It has a baically new shape tweed rectangle case and the stock Wilkinson tremelo arm. It's in great shape with just a few little dings but nothing even close to down to the wood. The pics show an SD Hot Rails in the bridge but it now has a Dimarzio Fast Track 2 which I think is so much better. I also have the stock Seymour Duncan APS-II bridge single coil and the buyer can choose the one he wants. I can swap it out before I ship it. I currently have it wired to split the bridge PU to single coil mode and combine with the neck PU in the #2 slot of the PU selector (I guess some could say the #4 slot but I always start with the bridge as #1), #3 = neck, #4 neck/mid (as usual) #5 middle, #1 full humbucker bridge (mellow to full rock here..hell I even play metal with it! The FS 2 PU also responds well to cleaning up by turning the volume down fo a nice clean tone). I can wire it stock if you want as well but this system works rather well for a wide variety of tones. I'm asking $825 shipped to the lower 48 via USPS 2-3 day Priority Mail, or best offer (don't be bashful with the offers, but don't be stupid either!). Paypal preferred but other payments may be accepted as well. One just sold on Ebay for $799 in solid black and I think this one is at least as nice. I have a +240 100% positive Ebay rating and a ton of net and HFC refs. Just let me know...make me an offer if you want...PM or email.
ZR Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 The color on that is AMAZING!!! Yeah, it looks a little more opaque in dark lighting but is truly amazing with some light on it.
ZR Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Had some questions re. the guitar already so I thought I'd post the answers here in case other people are interested. Someone asked about the type of wood, year etc...here's my reply; serial # 438088 I think that makes it a '94? I've had Alder guitars before like a Centaura and they did not look like this. I'm 99.9% positive it's Ash. It feels a little on the heavy side but maybe that contributes to it's long sustaining notes. I don't own a scale to measure it with - sorry. The fret wear is fairly slight; a few indentations near the cowboy chords (down low) and a little wear at the 5th-7th fret...guess I played in A a lot! There's about maybe 20 little dings in the top that are only in the finish, nothing down to wood. That sounds like a lot but that includes even the smallest ones. It really looks so much better than that sounds! The largest is 1/8' wide and and maybe 1/3 as deep? (I'm guestimating as best as I can here!), then maybe 6-7 at 1/16" wide and very shallow, then the rest are very small. These are all little rounded dings. I don't even know how they got there! There aren't any that had impacts that have "crushed" the finish like you see on some guitars. You know where there are cracks in the finish surface due to the big impact - nothing like that here. It plays great, sounds great and looks great. I'm selling it because I've taken a liking to short scale guitars lately. That will probably change in a few years and I will regret selling this one...oh well. I'm also selling it to raise funds for that Ducati I bought from our church in another thread; trying to stay out of the doghouse!!
ZR Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 On the 'bay... USA Hamer Daytona Auction I started it out at $650 with no reserve but I hope it will sell for more. Considering the other Strat-type options out there these still represent a great value. I really think that one day these Daytonas, and other models that Hamer doesn't make anymore, will be appreciated more and rise in pricing. Just like someday Lady Scary will sell off her Hamer shredder collection and buy an entire island to retire on!!
ZR Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 BTW - that IS an ash body.Yeah, I thought so. It has that look. It's a great wood for transparent finishes.
IPlayLoud Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 BTW - that IS an ash body.Yeah, I thought so. It has that look. It's a great wood for transparent finishes.Good Price. I'll tell you, these are going up. I seen a fellow selling a Natural Alder with a Rosewood board, all original. Shell PG, w/ohsc in close to Mint Cond. Fellow wanted $1000.? Didn't get it, but those $650 days are History. Still kicking myself in the Ass for the T-51's I let go by thinking $650-$675 was high?
ZR Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 Yeah, there's always deals here and there but I do think the trend is upward; not all that many made (compared to some brands!), being bought by Fender guarantees no more Hamer Daytonas!, the sheer value of what you're getting with the Sperzel locking tuners, the wood, the craftsmanship, aluminum backing plates, etc. I know what you mean about letting some things go due to price...I didn't buy a Nice blue all-flame bodied Cali w/ boomers because I thought $1,000 was just too much for a shredder. Now, I wish I would have bought it! I started the auction at $650 with no reserve so someone can still get a great guitar in a great color for a good price.
Punkavenger Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 love the color on that one ... very nice!
ZR Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 One more time! On the bay again w/ a lowered starting price...USA Hamer Daytona Auction
sw686blue Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Not sure if you're aware but the guitar is listed under Wasburn electrics and not Hamer.Man, I wish I had some extra cash, I'd love to take that guitar off your hands!
ZR Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 Not sure if you're aware but the guitar is listed under Wasburn electrics and not Hamer. Man, I wish I had some extra cash, I'd love to take that guitar off your hands! Yeah, it's a new marketing strategy I'm using. I'm trying to sell to untapped markets and be the big fish in a little pond... DOH!!! I've only been doing ebay for 10 years now; man, what a rookie mistake!! Thanks for catching that!! Even in the wrong category I still had 60+ watchers and I think close to 1000 hits on it during it's first run. Maybe this time will be even better. ZR Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 A lot more hits, watchers and questions when you post it in the right category!! Closes tomorrow. Someone may get a good deal...starting at $575! HFCers can get either BOTH bridge pickups OR free shipping (lower 48)...winner's choice!
KH Guitar Freak Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Good luck on the sales...Mine's a 95 ala Blackie, I've only got pics on the sales auction, but it will do for now...Hamaer Daytona auction...
Punkavenger Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 you guys should be buying MORE Daytonas... not selling the ones you have!
ford Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I'm still very angry that my very light 1996 alder Hamer t51 was stolen... luckily they missed my 96 ash see through green Daytona. bford
