  1. Then it's your prerogative to think he's a swell guy. Did he turn around and build your custom order for someone else six months later? Here's a fact, not a theory: Jol's OUT at Hamer. And the way he went out leads any reasonable person to conclude that it wasn't amicable or on his terms. Which in turn leads any reasonable person to believe his schtick had worn thin with FMIC.
  2. You'd be less willing to do so if you were a vendor or a custom order customer who was bitten on the ass by Jol's "eccentricity."
  3. Nice try, but I don't have to actually put my hand on an electric stove coil that's glowing bright orange to know it'll burn me. Anyone with real world experience and/or who is not blinded by unconditional hero worship can connect the dots here. Clearly neither applies to you.
  4. For the record, neither do I. My SuperPro is a masterpiece and my Mirage is damn close to it, as are all but one of the other Hamers I've ever owned. But the negative experiences of customers and the lukewarm reception by the marketplace are palpable, as is the attitude behind it all.
  5. Spare me the law school grad b.s. This isn't a court room, this is the real world, where common sense actually has credibility. Anyone with any life experience can safely assume that Jol wasn't let go because FMIC gave him the gift of an early retirement earned by artistry.
  6. Whether or not he was in fact an artist, he was a terrible businessman toward the end, and he was shown the door as a result. He didn't hang out here because he thought he was above it all. That attitude was evident in the way he approached marketing and customer relations. His prerogative, of course (until FMIC showed up and booted him out) but let's not make him out to be any sort of victim here. Clearly you were in the minority. Otherwise Jol would still have a job at Hamer.
  7. Yep. Damn shame that some grown people can't get past the fact that they were shoved in lockers by the jocks in h.s. to the point where they apply the dynamic to everything that doesn't go their way in adulthood. It's pretty commonplace, though. Read an "are you going to your class reunion" thread on The Gear Page sometime. If your leg is broken, go to the doctor. If you're that scarred psychologically over what happened to you during your teenage years, go to the doctor. Also, if you're getting stared at and people are walking out while you're onstage, you might want to consider that maybe your playing has something to do with it. You know, take a look at yourself before you automatically start blaming others. What a concept.
  8. More unsubstantiated bullshit. "Just like high school." Jesus, man. Get over it already. Kim was the one who made the factory jams happen. Can you imagine Jol lowering himself to schlepping gear? LOL! Please.
  9. Conduct unbecoming ..... and I love it!
  10. Let's not get silly now.
  11. Maybe not innovative, but if you watch the Winterland show from Kissology Vol. 1 and don't think that's a rockin' performance, your biases are doing the opining for you. Back to the topic at hand, I was exposed to more of this type of music than I care to admit or remember when I owned the cafe. I don't get it. But then, I'm not supposed to. When I read about parents being all giddy that their children are into the same music they were as kids, I think it's a shame. It's okay to an extent, I suppose, but overall, it just ain't right. Younger generations need their own artistic heroes, ideally ones that piss off their elders. That's a big part of the fun.
  12. And that my friends is what is so mind boggling for former Hamer players like me. WTF??? Well, just look where Jol is now. OUT at Hamer. It would be naive to think that his attitude didn't have something to do with that, especially given Hamer's current status as a custom order shop only. I will say that he nailed the pickup choice in the Monaco SuperPro though. Definitely not conventional thinking to put a Duncan Custom in the neck position, but damn does it sound heavenly.
  13. I have that same setup in my PRS. I should probably try something different in the Mirage, so as to avoid making the PRS superfluous (which the Rios in my Highway One Strat kinda did to the DCV Custom I was considering buying; sorry Dave!). What I really should do is see if I like the stock pickups first, but I hate to waste a trip to Dave's. I mean, it's not like I go there for the company.
  14. Next Saturday, of course. Bring your soldering iron. Got any Rios laying around that you're not using?
  15. I echo that sentiment. Gotta get the camera out soon.
  16. Any idea how many Mirages have this finish? This is the first one I've ever seen, in person or otherwise. And it's much darker in person. The red on the edges is almost brown, resulting in a faux tobacco burst. Love it!
  17. It's here, and it's spectacular! Wow!
  18. Nah, probably hairy-pitted, patchouli-smelling hippie chicks like usual. Although last week I interviewed a trial lawyer from Alabama who's appearing naked in the pay site this weekend and she said she's into jam bands, so who knows?
  19. Can't wait to feast my eyes on this thing (assuming it isn't in splinters):
  20. Reminds me of GoodFellas. "Karen tells me you're half Jewish." "Just the good half."
