  1. Fixed that for ya. Orton orchestrated a win over the damn Packers last week. But yeah, a buddy of mine worked on the "line" for UPS during college. The tales he would tell were akin to being privy to what goes on in the back of the house at a restaurant. Some things you just don't want to know.
  2. Which apparently can be played by someone with a wrist injury.
  3. I thought it was a French thing. Something to do with being below the equator and all that.
  4. I'd guess it was a colossal misfire by Jol. Hey, if one Vaughan brother likes it that way, the other one must like it that way too! A misfire not unlike his presenting Prince with a purple guitar with EMGs. I can picture The Artist Formerly Known As An Unpronounceable Symbol muttering "too obvious" under his breath as he cast it aside onto the reject pile.
  5. The powers that be probably are way ahead of me on this, but I wouldn't be quick to make adjustments to the visuals. Remember we're largely a bunch of old farts here, who are resistant to change. As long as the functionality is there, everything else is a bonus. The ability to embed YouTube videos alone is an encouraging indication that the HFC has finally arrived in 2011!
  6. I'll be at both events. I'll be with Kizanski.
  7. As long as your drummer has it down we'll be fine. The Night Ranger tune was easier than I thought, on bass at least. You have your hands full on guitar!
  8. I was gonna work up a Cult tune or two with Matthes but it doesn't look like he's coming. Maybe next time. They are great jam fodder, though. The Cult is like AC/DC in that their songs all revolve around the same chords. Anywho I got "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "Train Kept A Rollin'," "Cowboy Song" and "Paranoid" all set to go on bass.
  9. It's in the pinned thread.
  10. I thought I was playing bass on the Night Ranger tune and also Train Kept a Rollin'. Minneapolis crew, please confirm.
  11. Apologies in advance if I'm speaking for Hectorp out of turn here, but let's rein ourselves in a little bit. A lot of people will want to play, and there's only a limited amount of time, especially since the Chicago power pop crew who aren't members here will be doing their customary opening sets. People should pick one or two songs each and focus on those so they can nail them. The chances of that happening with, say, "La Villa Strangiato" are low.
  12. Cool photos! Not that I mind, but what happened to this:
  13. Nice. Take it from someone who just did it, getting back into the original hard rock thing at a nice venue is a ton of fun.
  14. The "That Metal Show" guys say that was a song demoed for a possibly reunited Led Zeppelin with Jason Bonham on drums.
  15. I finally got around to installing (or rather, having BadgerDave install) the Custom Custom you sold me in the bridge position of my Mirage. While I'm not an unconditional hater of the JB (and liked it just fine in the Studio I used to own) the CC is FAR superior in the Mirage.
  16. Bullshit followed by a suggestion to steal property. Jol, try stealing a magazine from my shop, sometime. Out of context, the quote is a bit confusing. Then again, maybe it isn't. Is he really lashing out at the makers and readers of Guitar Aficionado (the ideal demographic for his product) and "marketing guys" (the people who fortify a business' bank account)? Not that this would come as a surprise; he never seemed to understand his customer or how to market effectively when he was at Hamer.
  17. I've written a fair amount of marketing horseshit in my day, and read even more. This takes the cake. Anyone who'd be drawn in by this copy is a person with whom I'd have absolutely nothing in common.
  18. I also first saw Motorhead with Wurzel in the lineup. He was a real-life Nigel Tufnel, from the look and the mannerisms to the humor. For my money 1916 is the best Motorhead album, if for no other reason than Philthy is on it.
  19. Some shitty Kay combo Crate CR-112 combo Fender London Reverb combo Marshall Artist 3203 head Soldano HR50 head Marshall JCM900 4502 combo Valvetech VAC22 head (2) Peavey Classic 50 combo Fargen Miniplex head Valvetech VAC50 head Mesa Tremoverb head
  20. Is there a Stongemon-or-otherwise bar that's slightly smaller in diameter so it hangs out of the way versus staying in place? If so, I'd like one of those.
  21. For me it's usually some sort of Pino Palladino fretless bass shit from a Paul Young tune.
  22. My favorite cut off that CD: A beast indeed. Love those double stops with vibrato in his rhythm playing. Pure swagger, essentially the sound of pulling your dick out and waving it around.
