Custom Order Arrival-Peedenmark's Spalted Standard
MCChris replied to elduave's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I thought Hamer wasn't interested in doing things that were "too obvious." Seriously, holy crap! Whoever concepted that gets major kudos from me. -
Disappointed with Cream at RAH DVD
MCChris replied to HamerHokie's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Not necessary, I just wanted to understand the rules better. Thanks for the explanation. No problem. I think what people appreciate about this place is the lack of hard and fast "rules". Sure, a boobies thread will always be in the O.C., a Monaco porn thread will always be on the main board. But there are a lot of threads that hover somewhere toward the middle. More often than not I'll honor the original poster's intent and leave the thread where it originated. Other times I'll move it. Again, sorry if that sounds wishy-washy or arbitrary, but I think most of us like the fact that things aren't so regimented here. Possibly the only aspect of our lives that isn't. -
Disappointed with Cream at RAH DVD
MCChris replied to HamerHokie's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
My opinion is that if it's related to music or what an HFC member has going on musically that it belongs on the main board. So that's how I "moderate." Ted had nothing but good things to say to me at Bruce's last month so I guess he has no problems with my approach. If someone posts something that's related to music or what an HFC member has going on musically but chooses to put it on the O.C., I won't necessarily move it. In this case, I thought it might be nice to give this thread more exposure on the main board and thus create a longer discussion. King Diamond is cool, but I'm gonna guess that more people dig Clapton and Cream and would like to chime in about them. Had Bruiser put the King Diamond thread on the main board, I wouldn't have moved it to the O.C. And speaking of exposure, I have no problem with "prayers/good vibes needed" posts on the main board. Again, it's an exposure thing. The more prayers/good vibes someone can get when times are tough, the better. When we start talking about home improvement, pop culture and things like that, well, I guess that's where I draw the line. There are enough people on the O.C. to offer up info about those topics. If you want me to move this thread back, I'll be happy to. You started it, so I'll oblige you. -

I'm no Clapton fan by any means; in fact I don't really care for anything he's done except Cream (yes this includes the Bluesbreaker stuff). And even then I'm way more into Free, Mountain and other such bands from that era. But they showed the RAH concert on public television a couple months ago and I really enjoyed it. Go figure. Didn't miss the period-correct gear at all, though I'm sure it would have made things better. E.C.'s just so far removed from that sound I don't think he'd even consider going back to it, even in the context of Cream. -
Right back at ya! Although Ferdie a.k.a. FunkyE9th would have kicked both of our asses had he not fallen ill and been able to attend.

It was a simple case of Nuke starting things off and raising the bar high. The rest of us had no other choice but to bring our A games after that. At one point he did some two handed trickery that had me and ET bowing in worship!

And of course, you made the right decision. But let me reiterate, I've been to all of 'em (kinda have to be) and this was the BEST Midwest Jam ever in terms of the level of musicianship. The recordings will bear that out. Some of 'em anyway LOL! Even the young buck bass player from my space-rock project was impressed with how well us old farts brought it last night. Thanks again to everyone who participated. This was really fun for me.

I'm here at the cafe on Sunday morning waiting for those with gear stowed in the basement to stop by and grab it before heading home. Musically, this was unquestionably the best Midwest Jam ever. The recordings my buddy Clinton made of th lunacy will back up this claim (stay tuned for those in the near future). Thanks again to everyone who showed up, especially Butcher, Poe and Denise, the "surprise" guests who came from great distances to be here; and Bruce and Ken for helping out with getting the Poes back and forth to the airport. Big fun, everyone. Thanks again for participating.

Especially at that price. Wow! -
I've been considering a Weber Mass. The switchable ohms is something I would need.

Another excellent post which I also appreciate. Ultimately, the best thing about being in business for yourself is controlling your own destiny. If you can't pay the bills, you relinquish that control to someone like straightblues and suddenly your destiny is to be put out on your ass. There are certain realities in life. I think we all know that.

Excellent post. Thanks for doing it.

I'll assume you ride a bike and heat your home with a wood-burning stove, cuz your pox-ish tendencies have had NO effect on gas prices.

Midwest Jam VI: April 21-23, Chicago 'burbs
MCChris replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Those don't happen every week anymore and are "invite only" versus "open," meaning that when we know we're gonna have one we sound the alarm among the regular attendees and get it together. That said, of course you're invited and I can e-mail you when the next one is coming up. We're jamming this Sunday night at 7 if that's not too short notice for you. -
You also open yourself up to the world's losers, scumbags and scheisters, which eBay is a haven for.

Well that blows. No clown prince of the MWJ this year. -
If strings are supposed to be right in the center of each saddle, then why are saddles so wide?
