A week from Saturday the Cult tribute band I'm in makes its debut in the Chicago 'burbs (info at the links in my sig). Sorry for the premature information but it's been 4+ years since my last gig and I'm chompin' at the bit!

I saw that lineup live. They sounded great live, but I didn't like the bass player's voice. Was it Marco Mendoza? We were supposed to open for those pussies on the Chicago stop on that tour but upon arrival we were told they absolutley wouldn't move any of their gear, and due to their ridiculous stage set up (drums right up front at stage left) there was no room for us and we were SOL. We got the last laugh though by sticking around to see Gillis come out in a tank top and gym shorts, which combined with his afro made him look like Richard Fucking Simmons. Between bursts of open laughter I scratched my head in disbelief that this was the same guy who played on Ozzy's "Speak of the Devil."

You sound like you've had your face buried in a few of them. Allrighty then. Locking this, but going on record that salem was not initially responsible for the confrontational tone of this thread.

First off, any magazine is gonna do whatever moves the most copies, and this should be a good seller: rock icons from two different generations, the inherent controversy of putting a classic rock god alongside a modern anti-hero, etc. That said, I saw the White Stripes on some awards show a few years back and Jack's slide work was very reminiscent of Page's earlier stuff. So no, I don't think this article is a reach at all.
