  1. Did you delete my post?
  2. Did I say something?
  3. That would be a potentially very expensive experiment. I would NEVER go higher on a tube amp - you amplify the flyback voltages by a factor of four.
  4. Love the finish on the bass. Sure highlights the bridge platform though, looks like it grew an udder.
  5. Is that true? My understanding was that it is Kaman's company, and Frank runs it. I though Jol was kind of a consultant. That's not a beef, it's an honest question.
  6. That may well be the case, but..how do you know?
  7. I'm not pissed. Really I've got no room at all to bitch since I'm not in the market for much of anything Hamer would make today (at the price they would charge). I'd buy a Watson, but not at $5K. At $3K, yes (MSRP here). I get the vibe - and I could be totally wrong - that Jol just does whatever Jol feels like doing on any given day and that what he did or said yesterday doesn't mean anything anymore. I mean, one-piece necks, but no pearl or sparkle finishes? I don't think Hamer knows what it wants to be, and as such isn't anything for more than a day or two at a time. I would LOVE to have Hamer build me a couple SS2s. But they'd price out at over $5K.
  8. That ain't gonna happen...well, not until a group of dealers convinces Hamer to make a limited run with the 'old style' non-dovetail neck joint (you know, simple construction done right).
  9. Whatcha think of the pickups?
  10. I'd say the BBQ fits neatly between the Custom 5 and the Custom Custom. More defined and less muddy than the CC, not quite as articulate and a little warmer than the C5.
  11. Linseed oil is a preservative, not a cleaner. Rosewood doesn't really need oiling unless you've cleaned it with something astringent or solvent. Ebony does need oil, once a year is fine. Don't overdo it, because too much can contribute to loose frets.
  12. If it's really cruddy, naptha will clean it up good (lighter fluid). Use a credit card to scrape the schmunda off, then dry the board and apply some oil...'lemon oil' isn't, really. I use woodwind bore oil; linseed oil works too.
  13. The Air Classics are amazing in that guitar.
  14. It was the last 24.75 scale guitar I had. It's a beauty, for sure.
  15. That there Standard looks awful familiar...
  16. Those weren't really korina. They were ash, IIRC, stained to look like korina.
  17. Indeed. A guitar with no serial number, for starters, which would appear to be 1990 or newer based upon the lack of the through-drilled nut.
  18. They made a run of each of the pedals in that series in the US, then moved to China. I haven't compared the two tonally but I doubt that there is any significant difference - most of the components are all SMD anyway (read: no Keeley or Analog Mike mods).
  19. I bought three of that series - the BM, the Screamin' Blues, and the Hot Head. They're all quite cool, definitely takes on tweaked TS, Blues Driver, and DS-1, respectively. I like the Screamin' Blues the best but they're all great, and no-brainers at the $39 ($47 for the SB) price. Of course, I managed to score the *USA* versions, for extra vibe.
  20. At what? Stew-Mac doesn't sell just the plates.
  21. That's not a Kahler. It's an ABM or Hipshot or some other roller-saddle knife-edge.
  22. I do the same as JEM - Floyd II plates. I have been getting them through Fender but Fender and Floyd dissolved their relationship at the first of the year. I have four plates on order, and Fender says they'll fill it, but it has been four months - to be fair, Schaller has been VERY slow on stuff lately. I don't have a new source yet, but when these arrive I'll be set.
  23. If you look at AA's feedback - and it's all positive, with one neutral exception - a very large portion are along the lines of 'great guitar, took forever to ship'. Negative retribution-avoidance, looks like to me.
  24. It sounds little like a Jazz. The Jazz is a slightly underwound PAF. The HFH is a highly dissimilar humbucker with dual resonant peaks.
  25. It's good in the bridge of H/S/S guitars if you want them to sound like a Strat...
