I received a boatload of swag from UFO's Vinnie Moore who just bought that EchoTone. As a PSA to UFO fans I suggest you step away from the keyboard, blaze a path to Tower Records and pick up the Showtime DVD. It's 2 discs, one a show in Germany which is real nice, with "making of" stuff as well. DVD #2 is the BOMB! 6 tracks (video) recorded at a studio in Germany, 3 with strings & 3 without. Pack It Up And Go, Try Me (!!!), Love To Love (I never get tired of this song, unlike some other UFO tunes they play *every* show), Slipping Away, Cherry (!!) and Profession Of Violence (!). It's friggin' great. Also on Disc 2 is another "making of", 2 different doccumentaries (great), and the best part, interviews with the band covering the history of UFO. This stuff is repeatedly LAUGH OUT LOUD funny. The band (especially Phil) is hilarious, self-effacing, and just a joy to listen to! This is a MUST HAVE for fans of the band!

Damn Acoustics.... Need a new one (NHC)

JB crushing with info! When we played as a band acoustic last week, I was surprised how good a *lead* sound my cuz wuz getting with a floating hum in the hole. That sounds funny (insert Beavis/Butthead laugh). My main worry there is feedback. -

I'm not saying this is the absolute best choice there is, cuz I haven't played everything out there under a grand. But I think you must at least play an Ovation 1778T Elite T Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar before parting with your long green. You know how picky I am about tone and sound, and I find this Ovation shockingly good-sounding and playing, and can be had 'most anywhere for around $750: As far as playing like an electric, fuhgeddaboudit. Ovation wrote the book on that. And here's a review from GuitarOne that echoes pretty much what I thought of it, though I didn't play it plugged in. As hi-tech/synthetic as it looks, it has a surprisingly woody organic tone. And it's black, and I think it's USA-made. I have one of those in stock. Least expensive USA model available. Great deal. JohnnyB I really like what you said about bellys and roundbacks and lap space! I'm going to check that one out further... -

I love my Martins but they don't "feel" electric.. I've heard the Ovation Viper is the most "electric" playing acoustic. If you see any Ovations or Tak's you like give me a shout... -

C1-I don't have any but I know you can buy them through the Hamer site... Fooder-Here's hopin'... All about the imports-I tried but it wasn't something Frank R. wanted to get involved with and I didn't press it what with opening the brick & mortar and all. Pflynn-Gotta have some guitars on the walls! TomT- Newport Korina Jazzburst Thanks for all the great ideas everybody. So, who other than me would now like to see a Cherry Cheryburst Quilt Standard with gold hardware. Anyone looking for cool color ideas I suggest checking out Ovations color chart. They have a nice selection and they're down the hall from Hamer!

Gene, I can visualize that thing... I went with these: NEWPRO Aztec Gold (non-production color) MON3 Vintage Natural Studio Custom Black Trans Studio 59 Mon Elite Indigo NEW Korina Jazzburst (non-production color) They join the Korina Vector w/Boomers and MON Bass TSB I have in stock. A bunch of Monaco Elite Mahoganys (TV, VO, RT) came in today as well. Got a nice deal on them 'cause they're going bye bye soon... Also on order is what should be a really cool Standard, a Floyded ________ and one that will likely be N/A'd, in addition to some stuff for you lot.

Stop the madness! STOCK models in STOCK colors! I already have the "custom" stuff ordered... I gotta get this done within the next 15 minutes or so...

I'm ordering Hamer stock models in stock colors to hang in the new brick & mortar. Opinions on models and colors welcome!

Custom Order Arrivals-The Best Gretsch Ever*

Tone Report Things I dug-The in-between (2&4 positions) on all channels, especially clean. Bell tones, spanky spank tones, very chimey, useable sounds. My favorite thing abut the guitar for sure. Also dug the bridge pup by itself, especially on the lead channel (TSL601). Great sounds all around when lowering the guitar volume a bit. Not so much-The middle pup. Just too loud and gritty. It got much better once I lowered the pup further away from the strings. Not having played a spruce top model, I can't do the maple vs spruce call. It didn't seem "overly" bright to me though. I'd say best results would be with a Fender amp and a player that plays jazzier/bluesier stuff. I lean more towards the "fuse the notes together with lotso gain" sound. YMMV. -

Uhhh... Since it's in my posession, I guess it's up to me. I'll give it some time ASAP. Would you like the report on a Tech21 combo or a Marshall TSL601? -
Sorry Bill. I can't imagine what you're going through.

Belg-Standard pickups JWhit-Do you play it by ear or did you use a cheat sheet (tab or whatever)? I learned it by ear and had to make up some chords as I went along. I'd be curious what it looks like on paper. -

Very clearly a case for corn flakes and classics "Two teas both with sugar please" In the back of an alley While little Dirt Cowboys turned brown in their saddles Sweet chocolate biscuits and red rosy apples in summer For it's hay make and "Hey mom, do the papers say anything good. Are there chances in life for little Dirt Cowboys Should I make my way out of my home in the woods" Brown Dirt Cowboy, still green and growing City slick Captain Fantastic the feedback The honey the hive could be holding For there's weak winged young sparrows that starve in the winter Broken young children on the wheels of the winners And the sixty-eight summer festival wallflowers are thinning For cheap easy meals and hardly a home on the range Too hot for the band with a desperate desire for change We've thrown in the towel too many times Out for the count and when we're down Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy From the end of the world to your town And all this talk of Jesus coming back to see us Couldn't fool us For we were spinning out our lines walking on the wire Hand in hand went music and the rhyme The Captain and the Kid stepping in the ring From here on sonny sonny sonny, it's a long and lonely climb -

Monaco III, Cadillac Green, Gold hardware, fancy pants** binding, ebony board, bound fancy holes... The factory nailed it. Kudos to the spray-meister.
