  1. Damn that's erotic! Didn't Johnny Horton write a song about that?
  2. My neighbor (a fmr mayor of Poughkeepsie NY and bigwig in the Dem party) explained to me how it all happened: FDR made a deal with the Mafia in WWII, that if they would clear the beaches in Sicily and not fight, they'd get 50 years of "light" enforcement on their rackets. Indeed, they cleared the beaches and the Italian Army laid down arms (the Germans, however, didn't get the memo), fulfilling their end of the deal. Jump forward to the Kennedys (Bobby and Jack) cracking down hard on mob operations almost as soon as their administration begins. All old Joe (dead) would say after that is: "Those Kennedy boys couldn't count . . ." So the next time some guy sits down with the CIA story, you can defend yourself at a Blues Jam with the truth.
  3. I don't know what it is, but I've got a feeling this will be good . . .
  4. True. I got way out of my league when we left BBQ sauce . . .
  5. True. For measurments I would normally use an inside, outside, or depth electric micrometer. You gentlemen crunching the numbers are aware that the valence number of iron in the strings changes over time due to oxidation? Might be time to re-calculate . . . For the most pristine quality sound, we really need no guitar at all. All we need is an Apple, a keyboard, and Logic Pro. An infinite number of guitar sounds (all types of sounds in fact) can be produced, produced the same way, with the same tone, same tempo, etc., etc., etc., and unlike the human, reproduce it the same way every single time. But this is mathmatics, not music or real life. Good luck with your formula for producing the best guitar and welcome to the forum. Interesting concept, and I'll keep the tinfoil on in hopes it is achieved . . .
  6. Gentlemen, I have just gone to DADGAD. Please re-calculate your calculations. Thank you.
  7. You could also have the GC goober pull it down off the wall and play it . . . Gentlemen with the slide rules and calculators: I have just changed to light guage strings -- please re-do all your calculations. Thank you. Next we'll adjust the amp (I'm quite sure all of us have enough different amps together to keep you calculating for a few thousand years) in 1/2 tone increments starting with treble on the clean channel . . .
  8. I sure am glad they've finally got it all figured out . . . Back to ribs (with Jack's sauce . . .).
  9. When everyone's ears are tuned the exact same, they'll be useful . . . You can have all the measurements and math you want -- doesn't take into account the various woods, moisture content, string length, tuning, training of the operator, pickup ohms and synchronization to the other pickups, type of pickups used, age of string preference and metal type, and many more which are all more important than the name on the headstock. Many players use a particular name on the headstock because they are paid (either flat rate, custom deals, paid by headstock appearance in magazines, film, etc., sales of their model) to do so in public. (That's why we see statements like: "Johnny Thunders would never play a Hamer . . ." I didn't know Johnny, but doubt he or many others took a slide rule to a guitar and announce it overall best and they'd only play that particular brand). I'll certainly look at whatever system you all come up with -- and then buy what I like regardless (and everyone else will too).
  10. Just reverse those and you have mine.
  11. +2 Jack's BBQ That'll take the edge off . . .
  12. Finally, a person with some class has appeared on this board! I salute you, Sir. Everytime I'm over in Minneola (Florida) right on Hwy. 27 as you enter the N. side of town, I load up with bottles of BBQ sauce from Jack's (BBQ). Man alive is that stuff good! And for the best all you can eat catfish joint of all time, go to the N. shore of Lake Okeechobee right by the Kissimmee River barge canal. This ends our lesson for the day on culture and culinary cuisine. Back to your regularly scheduled program . . . The best guitar: the one you're looking at. Ask any seller.
  13. Hmmn. I always thought to play to the next higher level you simply needed another guitar . . . After just wading through Steve Petrucci's anyone can play rock dvd where I learn to change a 9th to an 8th (or was it 11th) on the fly while going up and down the fretboard (guess I'll have to learn a few more notes too) at mind-numbing speed while halving a metronome set at 66 into 16ths, 32'nds, 64ths, 128ths, 256ths, etc., I think I'll just take up brain surgery as a hobby. Whatever buying guide you guys come up with is fine with me. Gives an excuse for another purchase!
  14. Ditto. If it comes through the door, I play with it.
  15. $500 . . . Oh well. You can always console yourself with a low priced 335: >>Can't Last Long!<<
  16. They go in a circle. When they're to old for Williams, they go to Petro, when to slimey for Petro, they go to Flying J for the Mexican buffet night. Try their Mexican lasanga (layer of nacho chips/layer of chili/layer of cheese/ & repeat) some night and see if you don't agree.
  17. Nothing to fear, fellas. Gettting old just means more time for a relaxing evening with the wife . . . (of course, she'll wear the appliance). Note the jar on the nightstand.
  18. "I have never felt better in my life." -- get back to us in 10 years. I don't know why you put the urinary thing in. It's nice to know we can still cop a warm glow in the "golden" years (and it lasts all day long).
  19. On the 335's they advertise laminates with a mahogany neck. Don't know if that was true in the pre-70's (maybe someone can chime in, I'd like to know if they were all built the same). http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/classic/ES-335.html A backyard shot of the wood and finish on my 335 neck (got the cross-ways brush hair for no extra charge):
  20. +1 If you can get the DVD set of that, do it, much more on it than the TV program.
  21. I apologize for not knowing who Johnny Thunders was or that he too had left the building . . . Won't happen again. Come back dude! I'll miss the Cars (a great group)!
  22. Afraid you'll have to go to a higher power than me, my son . . . Unfortunately, they seem to be a bit tight-lipped tonight. Maybe we've intimidated them. I didn't even think that was possible. Good luck. MM
