Ha, there is quite a number of Ozzies that based on that fact that she's a chick alone, she's overrated as a guitar player. However, most will agree that we are quite happy that she's doing well regardless. Irony perhaps???

Nice one there... I still want a rosewood fretboard Daytona...

Another sign of "no love" for Hamers
KH Guitar Freak replied to Hgb5000's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Nevertheless, I still love how some people drop their jaws when they find out that the guitar I'm rocking out on is a "Hamer"... -
I came into this thread looking for goatse, and I'm massively disappointed... *pulls up pants*

Exactly. My guess is that the difference between the Spectraflex and Mogami would be tiny, if any. The length of the cable and the fact that they are both well made would be huge factors. Yup. Only reason why I'm getting Evidence Audio Lyric HG patch cables made is because my pedalboard will use up almost as much cable as a single instrument cable, which by then would have significant change in tone that I would upgrade if I can afford to anyway. (give or take almost 10 foot of patch cables alone)...

I don't have a pedal board, but I do use a Foxrox TZF Flanger in the loop of my Roadking. I was using Hosa patch cables and when I bought the Mogami Gold patch cables, there was....again...an enormous difference. Remember though, I was going from $2-$3 patch cables, so YMMV. Nonsense. The difference in tone that I hear has absolutely zero to do with my emotions. I am not a rookie or someone who has had no experience with professional level equipment. I may not have the ability of others on this board and I am the first to admit that. One thing I do have though, is a very good ear. I don't give a shit was a friggin lab test will show me. I know the damn thing sounds different, very different, from my other cables. I bought these cables because I perceived them to be more road worthy than the cables I was using and I had just had a cable go bad during a show. I was *not* expecting a tonal difference. What I heard was the equivalent of a blanket being taken off of my amp and I was blown away. I immediately posted my experience and several other members purchased this cable and had the same experience. To dismiss this as "snake oil" is extremely arrogant. Fair enough. Guess you could say that I never really skimped on patch cables really. The cheapest I have are the Spectraflex ones...

The buffering circuitry helps, but it can only go so far to "mask" the tone. Also, if your pedalboard uses very little cable, it wouldn't make much of a difference. But a single instrument cable would be sufficient enough to change the tone...

No bullshit, I believe you, after trying some Evidence Audio cable myself... Now I have my whole rig wired up with Evidence Audio Lyric HG cables, with the speaker cable being their Siren IIs. All I need now is to get some patch cables done with EA Lyric HGs and Neutrik plugs, should be done in a few days...

Got a bunch of pedals. No pedalboard but. Them Pedal Trains are ridiculously expensive...

whats your favorite type of bridge?
KH Guitar Freak replied to moparmagic's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
WIth guitars, them OFRs and Schaller LFRs, Wilkinson VSV trems, and a few others. Generally happy with most bridges but... But when I'm really into the mood, the Mon Veneris takes the cake... -
Well, it would depend on how you rigged your setup. Definitely a slight tone "loss" but. I'm definitely getting that Visual Sound volume pedal to run as a buffer up front. They seem to make pretty darn good buffering circuitries... Buffering Circuitries? Hows that work? Oh, Visual Sound has their own designed and built buffers in their pedals. If you run plenty of patch cables and/or cables between the guitar and amp, your tone would change. Obviously there are good buffers and bad ones. Boss pedals I've found have a decent one, but still robs tone IME. Them Visual Sound ones seem to buffer the signal a lot better than those Boss ones. Essentially, this is a buffer vs. true bypass argument...

You are probably right about the sound, but I was writing 'bout the feel of the neck. Gabe You are probably right about the sound, but I was writing 'bout the feel of the neck. Gabe Did they sand the finish on the maple necks at the factory? Blue's neck is defintely smoother than the neck of The Black. The maple neck and fretboard of my Blackie Daytona USA seems finished and sanded, basically like a sanded satin finish. As mine is old however, certain places have worn off, and looks black. But hey, people pay good money for that... As for the fretboard being smoother, I thought it was about tone, not feel. Lol. My bad...

Funny, I would have thought the rosewood fretboard Daytonas would be smoother sounding...

Review of the Mesa Mark V from another board....
KH Guitar Freak replied to DavidE's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The Roadster doesn't have EL34s and has the RKII channel 2. The reason I didn't like it is as follows... 1. It sounds like a modded Marshall, and I can get *close* to that on channel 3 with the gain down a tad and 50 watt EL34s selected. 2. True, you may be able to get close to that sound by turning the gain down on channel 2 but when I am gigging I don't want to be twiddling with knobs. 3. Turning the gain down will only work if you crank the master, and again, I don't like to twiddle on the fly. Here is how I have my RK set up. 1 Ultra clean = Fat, 4x6L6, SS rec. 2. Old Marshall = Brit, 2XEL34, tube rec 3. Modded Marshall (80s tone) Raw, 2xEL34, SS rec 4 Insane Boogie = Modern, 4x6l6, tube rec I would say that 80% of the time I am on channels 2&3. I also have the amp set to Bold and the EL34 section on Triode. That's some cool shit indeed. As for me, it doesn't bother me, as it does sound British like, and I'm going to purchase a Stiletto Deuce II head down the road anyway. Stereo goodness... I own a Roadster, and don't gig. Still sounds sweet the last time I checked... -

Exactly, the guys who were bitching were complaining about the lack of gain on the channel. The old school EL34 sound is not about gain, it is about power tube breakup and this nails it. The RKII has a lot more gain on channel 2 and removed the pentode/triode switch. It sounds like a modded JCM800 IMHO and that isn't what I need or want out of channel 2. YMMV It would be unfair of me to not mention that I have a set of NOS Tesla 12ax7s for my pre tubes and a pair of NOS Sylvania 6CA7s for my EL34s. The amp was great before the swap, but after the swap...whoah...absolutely insane amp. People also complained about the lack of headroom on the clean channel and with the stock 6L6s is *was* a bit too compressed and flat sounding. A quad of NOS Sylvania 7581As solved that problem. I have a Roadster head, with is essentially the same for the channel 2 Brit mode. I love mine, when the gain and treble is around the 3 o'clock mark, it's like a Marshall Vintage Modern, only fatter and better sounding. Turn down the gain, you can get into some old school JTM45 to semi Plexi like tones... -

Disagree...I have a RKI and wouldn't trade it for TWO RKIIs. Channel 2 on the original RKI set to EL34, triode, tube rectified, 50 watts, with the master cranked is old school EL34 heaven. I spend a lot of time on that channel and IMHO it is damn near perfect. The RKII voiced the channel differently and IIRC removed the pentode/triode switch for the EL34s. The only thing that the RKII has that I would want is a tuner out option on the FS. Maybe they went in a slightly different direction, cause everyone at that time was bitching about how it didn't sound like a Marshall or whatnot... -
