  1. Hey thanks for the link! It's easy to overlook Matthias Jabs as he had some huge shoes to fill following Uli Roth and Michael Schenker. But he burns really nicely here for sure. He's not quite as speedy as the others, but there's an intensity to his playing (especially here) that's so cool. Plus Lovedrive-era Scorps are my fave. Have you seen the video to match the audio? I suspect it's the same show--Tokyo 1979. Appears it was filmed for a Japanese TV show. Now on YouTube. Lucky us:
  2. Bumping just to say, the guitar is sold. Happy as I am to sell it, I'll miss it. A real nice guitar. Thanks for all the support for the sale guys.
  3. You know, I'm not certain. But it seems a bit lighter than a 9 lb LP that I have. I'd guess it's about 8.5-8.75. Sorry I can't be more specific as I don't have a scale here.
  4. Nope. It's all smooth finish everywhere I can see. But since it's a 2001 model, I think the Hameritis issues had been sorted out by then hadn't they? Thanks for the interest.
  5. Yup. Good eye sir. 18 watt Invader. Killer plexi tones without having to disturb the neighbors!
  6. Now SOLD. 2001 Hamer Studio Custom in 59 Burst, bound and crowned. Has stock Duncan JB bridge and ’59 neck pickups. The bridge volume control is wired with a pull pot for coil splitting the bridge. (I am including the two Hamer CTS pots that Kim Keller sent me a few years ago when I was planning to return the bridge volume pot back to stock.) $1300 shipped and Paypaled (CONUS). Price drop to $1200. SOLD. Condition is excellent, overall, with some of the small indentations that commonly are light signs of wear. There is one noticeable indentation on the back of the neck at the 5th fret. It is just an indentation, and did not go through the finish, just lightly dented it. At any rate, I’ve attempted to capture get it on camera for full disclosure. Otherwise, the finish shines up nice and glossy, as you can see in the pics. I’ve never gigged this guitar, and only used it for recording and playing at home. Don’t know about the previous owner. Vintage carve on the neck. Feels a little rounder than the one on my Standard. Frets in great shape. Bridge saddles are graphtech. I tried to capture the true color of the guitar, which is a bit more faded orange burst than a traditional cherry burst. One unsual thing on this guitar is the Schaller tuners; there are no small screws attaching them to the headstock. It appears to be some kind of “screwless” variation of the Schaller. I’ve never seen them before, and always thought they look kind of cool and unusual when I would look at the back of the headstock. Anyway, thought I’d mention it, and include a pic. Other than all that, it’s the great playing and sounding guitar that you’d expect from a Hamer. It has served me very well but I find I rarely play it much these days. Let me know if I can supply any more useful info. Thanks for looking.
  7. Yeah, I noticed that too. My Standard (non-chambered) weighs less than my 9lb Les Paul. I have to say, though, that that seller has done one thing right: photography. Too many shots, to be sure (although a serious buyer would appreciate them), but plenty of shots that flatter the guitar and enhance the look of the maple top in particular. Not too much flash going on that otherwise pushes the burnt orange/brown beauty of a '59 Burst finish into clownburst territory! I've got two '59 Burst Hamers (Standard and Studio) and neither of them look as yellow and red in person as they did in photos from their sellers.
  8. Got me. Immediate, involuntary response was to scroll down for possible pics. Good one.
  9. I really enjoy Paul McCartney's "Back in the US" DVD. I'm just a huge Beatles and McCartney fan. His current band is excellent and fun on stage. Plus his lead guitarist Rusty Anderson is great, just ripping through his Divided by 13 amps (good way to hear those). In general, McCartney plays a ton of great Beatles tunes and some of his best solo stuff, and the band really rocks them up. McCartney's voice is also in surprisingly good form (given his age). There's also his "The Space Within US" DVD which is a bit more recent. It's of similar quality and is worth having in that there are enough differences in song listings (I dig the versions of "Drive My Car" and "I've Got a Feeling" on "The Space..." in particular) between the two. I can also recommend the Derek Trucks Band's "Songlines Live" ("Songlines" itself is a great album). Also Gov't Mule "A Tail of 2 Cities." I haven't made it through the 5 hours of this one just yet, but what I've seen looks and sounds great.
  10. Just tried PM'ing you. Wouldn't go through for some reason, so I emailed you!
  11. Polara, If you don't get more responses here, you might want to try the gearpage: http://www.thegearpage.net/ I had some questions about Hiwatt a little while ago and a number of folks filled me in very nicely.
  12. PM sent. --> QUOTE(David B @ Oct 10 2006, 05:00 PM) ← That used to be mine. It's 100% solid & the crack was mild to begin with. Well worth the price.
