  1. I had to get in on this, my baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Oh man, for us southern boys how about STRANGER. These guys absolutely rocked!!!!! Sadly, their guitar player Ronnie Garvin took his own life in the mid '90's but......SWAMP WOMAN FOREVER. also I concur with: Jellyfish Thunder .................
  3. I have followed this thread since the beginning and all I can say is that is the coolest restoration I have ever seen along with the superb neck repair on the BCR website (blueburst standard). You are to be commended, enjoy that thing because it is a pleasure that is well deserved!!!!!!!!!
  4. Man, try a Barber Direct Drive, I love mine!!!!!!!
  5. That flat out rocks. Incredible refin. Hey, I've been meaning to ask what happened to the bridge pickup route in the corner...is that deliberate?
  6. Just to add a note, I realize that the auction was written by someone who had no idea what he was talking about. I spent a lot of time weeding thru descriptions and photo's before I ever considered buying. The seller was cool, just uninformed and looking to make money. This forum was invaluable in helping filter the garbage out of the auction and for that I am grateful. I guess him being clueless should not have any bearing on perceived value. It all worked out in the end.
  7. I just joined this board because of my love of Hamer guitars. I presently own a 93 quilt special fm that I adore but in the past I have owned Chapperals, a Californian Custom, a 95 standard, a 1980 sunburst, a 79 sunburst and a Vector. I have always had a serious emotional and sentimental attachment to these guitars although as of late I have been an Ibanez fan (primarily JEMS and JS's). The last 2 I had were a 95 standard dot inlay in 59 burst and a Chapperal custom that was stolen and never retrived. I frequent many forums including Jemsite, The les paul forum, line 6 and peavey and as of late I love this one too. Now, here is my rant. I am the guy who spent $1500 on a 95 Hamer custom Standard that you all seem to be all to eager to devalue. I checked this forum and even contributed to a thread about the auction. I know that when they were new they were $1800+ list....maybe you could get one discounted around 1400...I know this but I still feel like after reading this thread that most of you look at it like "Who would pay that much for this..?". Well, I would. It is an awesome instrument and terribly underrated. I sold my Standard three years ago for 1300 and it wasn't a custom. I saw a blueburst here go for 1500...SO WHAT. The overwhelming opinion here should be how cool the guitar is and how the values are going up. Not making a buyer feel like he may have gotten ripped off because some of you feel I'm crazy for spending that much. I was skeptical of the auction at first as well but Jamie, the guy I bought it from has turned out to be one of the coolest cats I have ever dealt with on Ebay, PERIOD. I am glad I bought this and to me this guitar and vintage are well worth the money I spent and thats what matters most. This guitar was similar enough to the one I had that I was compelled to win it. It just makes me feel bad that some opinions on this board make me feel as if I got railed, and that just tarnishes the investment and the time I spent reading and researching on this board. It was worth it to me and as part of this forum that is what should matter most to you guys. Thanks for listening Jim
