django49 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Way back, several years earlier than that one, the local "dream rig" was a toss up between a Sunn or Fender (Dual Showman), either with a huge 2 x 15 (JBL) cabinet. Priced at $999 IIRC, it was a complete dream for a kid like me. (Though I did pick up a Showman head and 1 x 15 Showman "tone ring" cabinet at a decent price. Separately, later found a 2 x 15 Showman cab with two JBLs for a steal---$75. Was about like picking up a refrigerator for a skinny kid. I may be wrong, but think it might have been around 100 pounds). Sunn and the Kingsmen were local legends then. I reckon someone will buy this as more a collector's item than for heavy use.... A few years later, Marshall reset the table........As a friend said, as he drooled over one, "Three is the threshold of pain". I am amazed at how SMALL an amp I can get by with these days....And not throw my aging back out. The speaker cab I used playing out earlier today was closer to 20 lbs, rated at 250 watts and way more than adequate. 4 Quote
ib2010 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 This reminds me of an equally practical Casino stack I once owned. And somehow survived. 2 Quote
BoogieMKIIA Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 There was some religious rock band that did an afternoon assembly at my high school. The guitarist had a half stack Model T - it was loud and it rocked. Would love to have one in a big room! 1 Quote
