A 37 year old guitar might need fresh paint for some players. Suppose that it had the original paint and assuming a standard opaque color, like black, what would be a fair asking price? I rarely see dot-necked Californians for sale any more.

Sold my 88 for £525 ($700)  in 2012: original metallic blue paint with customary checking. I'll never come across one that good for such a good price again. Do I regret it? No but... I wish I still had it...

Actually, I recall John Lennon started it in the 1960s when he stripped his Epiphone Casino guitar.
