bubs_42 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) We are 7 days away from the Expo. I didn’t get a booth, but I’ll be making the rounds, with Travis in tow. If anyone is in the area, stop by and say hi! @Travis @RacerX @BadgerDave Anyone else that might in the area. Damn if I can remember the one person that I saw the last two times, and managed to not be able to track them down during the show. https://www.dejawuguitars.com/guitar-show-calendar/chicago-vintage-guitar-expo-wedp6 Edited March 8 by bubs_42 5 Quote
tweed Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Just crawled out of bed. I live 5 miles from Indiana border. Will be on my way ASAP. At my age, it'll be a while 😜 3 Quote
RacerX Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Great to see Bubs and Travis today! Also ran into Curtis Meissner later in the show, and few other collectors/dealers I know from the old days. Dave- I missed ya somehow, maybe next time. I came home empty handed… my les paul Jr/special hunt continues. 4 Quote
tweed Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Missed all u guys! I was in turtle mode today. Got here around 12:45. Saw a nice PRS McCarty 594 SE, tobacco burst. Asked the guy what he wanted, looks at his watch and says "At this hour, probably go $525", but he didn't take any debit/credit cards. I could have swore I heard $525. Looked around the lobby for an ATM. Came back and told him I could squeeze out some cash from the ATM in the lobby. He says "What did I quote you?" I told him $525. He says "Nah, if I said that it would have been gone". My guess is when I came back, some young buck was drooling over it. "OOOOH. I want this!" What a CHOOCH!! So, drowning my missed opportunity at the bar. 😡 2 Quote
BadgerDave Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I was in and out pretty quickly. Nothing really caught my eye. Lots of well worn Gibsons and Fenders at very optimistic prices. I was mildly interested in finding a 70's LP Deluxe at a reasonable price and weight. No luck. I saw one deluxe. The rare red sparkle finish but very faded and overall in poor condition. Asking $22,500.00! 😳 1 1 2 1 Quote
bubs_42 Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 That particular booth is one I avoid. He is not very…. Let’s say friendly . Prices and values are dropping and I think “optimistic” and “hopeful “ prices are what your going to see this year. At the Indy show last 2 years ago the dealers were saying the market has been as bad as when the economy collapsed. I think a lot of guys are just buying and holding. I know I want to liquidate down and put the money into one guitar that I will use and play. 63,64 SG Special or a DC Junior. 4 Quote
Saul Goodman Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Someone I know picked this up at the show. Any of you see it? 3 Quote
