serial Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Looking for a quality USA '62 Reissue (with the hump-not necessarily Fender) body finished in nitro with the correct vintage routes-no bathtubs or humbuckers need apply. ANY condition, would love custom color, but 3 color sunburst would do. Need to restore an '88 Fender '62 RI. Had one on order from a builder with a very impressive website, but the body that he finally shipped me after five months (he promised no more than 6 weeks "to get it done right") was an absolute piece of crap, so it went back. Just thought I'd try here to see if anyone had one laying around...
cmatthes Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I'd love to see a pic of the actual piece of crap he sent you. I will definitely avoid that guy.
mc2 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Steve...I JUST got this one yesterday...circa '83 Kubicki one-piece body... but it's a non-trem. Haven't decided to rebuild it yet. Got the vintage Duncan stcked HB PUPs with it but that's it.-jon
mc2 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Here's the back...it's sure is purty (note the finish checking in the clear) but damn heavy!
serial Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 Jon-looks really nice, but I'm looking for a trem version. Chris-here's a "teaser"... That's SUPPOSED to be fiesta red (actual Duco paint stock) and was to be reliced. The guy's site said that all bodies are "tone tapped" and "selected from body blanks" and "cut on the same machinery that they used to use in the Fullerton factory" (obviously not THE same machines, but same types). So I pay a LOT of $$ for this back in Feb. and got this POS Allparts body, thick sprayed, orange peely, rough unsanded (you gotta see the trem cavity!) thing. The Allparts body is correctly routed, etc, but I didn't pay a premium for some guy to spraybomb and then beat up and steel wool an Allparts body. Don't even get me started on the relic pickguard he charged me $70 for!!!! Oh, I'll just say it wasn't US Fender RI as he claimed and no, it didn't fit at all. As long as he addresses my refund timely and doesn't try to screw me, I have no desire to trash the guy's rep. Of course, he offers a 100% "no questions asked" return policy which only helps if he actually still HAS the money you sent. This guy doesn't have the money I sent him and asked for some time to pay me back... I'm holding my breath, but starting to question the intelligence of that.
hardheartedbill Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I really think you could get a raw Allparts and rattlecan the nitro, but I've been emboldened by the succes of my strat copy LOL
Mr Fuzzy Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Ouch!.that is one crappy spray job.Hope you get a refund.
mudshark Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 don't have one myself, but:http://edenhaus.com/stratbdy.htm
hamersandstrats Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I have bought strat parts from "reliablefender" on eBay if you want to go that route.
serial Posted July 21, 2006 Author Posted July 21, 2006 So have I-the stuff is usually good and shipping is quick. I've been looking regularly on the 'bay, just thought I'd try here...
