Anyone catch the MTV video awards? Usually I do not partake in such crap, But as I was clicking by the channel, saw Billy Gibbons playing with the Racontours. Very cool indeed.

Saw Billy playing, that was very cool, although they cut it off way short to go to a commercial break. Asshats.

Asshats is right! probably only cool thing about the show and they go and cut it.

An what the hell happened to Axl? his braids look like those beaded seatcovers that taxi cab drivers are so fond of!

Too bad I missed Billy. Seems like I didn't miss much. I watched about 2 minutes in total but couldn't stand the stupidity.

First, I'd like to thank God....

First, I'd like to thank God.......... that I didn't waste the effort to park my ass on the sofa and watch even 2 seconds of that show. The last thing I need is a dose of what MTV (and its viewers) "think". Same goes for Al Gore and his inconvenient pontification.

Earlier in the show they did "White Light White Heat" with Lou Reed. I'm sure the coolness of these appearances was utterly lost on all the hip-hop-heads in attendance and rap fans watching on TV.

I'm beginning to think hip-hop will never lose its grip on pop culture. Hair metal lasted, what, 8 or 9 years before it collapsed under the weight of overexposure? It's been 20 years since "Raising Hell" came out and I don't see the popularity of rap diminishing one bit.

I turned that crap-fest off after the 37th Rap song..... so I watched it for about 25 minutes... yup seems about right.....

It's not that I "hate" RAP .... well .. yea I do actually... ha ha ha..... but for God's sake friggen evolve it... do something different... same crap over and over and over and over......

BRING BACK THE ROCK!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I've been thinking the same thing for a LONG time!!

Damn, I missed that... That would have been awesome to see. You are right though, alot of these rap/ hip hopheads that attending/watching such things as that have no idea of the coolness.

Fuck 2 turn table and a microphone !!!!!!!

You'll have about 600 chances to see it again; that's about how many times they'll replay the show this weekend.

Thundernotes,

I couldn't agree more.

Funniest thing I saw was towards the end of the show when the Jackass crew was up on stage presenting. One of the guys punched someone else in the nuts and they cut to Billy G who was chuckling. Too funny.

The Jackass guys were funny, it was even funnier when the Fall OUt Boy band had to go up there and face them when they knew the Jackass crew hates Fall Out Boy. Steve-O was hammered as usual.

I enjoyed watching the nut puching cuz I knew it meant that none of these knobs would be able to reproduce!

Yet again a wonderful summation of why I've not had cable television in my home in the last five years.. I haven't missed a thing.
