Damn my liver hurts! Well not really but as always it was a blast. Ya know you can have your Orlando, Sandals, Royal Carrabein, etc. but I'll gladly take that big dirty city as my vacation destination any day.

We hooked up with Meester Reechard(JeffR) friday afternoon for some beers, here's what it looked like.

We headed up to Bourbon street to see a zydeco band Jeff knew. They weren't there and when we walked in on a some band sportin dual stock Strats we figured we oughta hit the road before the inevitable half assed version of "Pride and Joy" happened. We drug him down to lower Decatur St. to our fave. hole Coop's which I'll wager a hefty sum has the coldest beer and best fried chicken in town.

If you do make it down there give Jeffro a hollar, he's a fine host. Go to Coop's. Check out Rhoades D'Albo and the Devil's Right Hand and buy the bassist a Miller. Rhoades plays a Hamer too. Fans of major league dive bars will want to go to the Saturn bar, take a cab as the local say it's on the "shootin'" side of St. Claude. If you make it to the Mayfair and some yuppie couple loads five bucks into the juke and play nuthin' but Billy Joel, please beat 'em with your pool cue, I didn't and wish I had. Fuckers played that bottle of red mess twice.

Oh yeah we got my wife a ten year ring in a pawn shop on Magazine St., how appropriate.

Coop's is my home away from home while in N'awlins...cold Abita and fiiiine Cajun Pasta and gumbo...

Other favorites of mine in N'awlins are Mother's at the end of Canal at Poydras, Deanie's, Felix's Oysters, and the Maple Leaf Club across town...

A buddy of mine is a guitar player on Bourbon...his band has an exclusive deal with The Famous Door and Bourbon Street Blues Bar and he's a bad son of a gun...cover band, but one of the best I've ever seen. His name is Roger and he plays Wolfgang's...plays 5 nights a week on Bourbon if you're ever down there again.

On Monday night's, head to the Maple Leaf and catch a jam with "locals" such as my boy Brian Stoltz, Ian Neville, George Porter, etc...great stuff.

Ahhh, I miss it...I wanna go back...but I just got back from England, so no vacation for me for a while.

The R Bar at The Royal Street Tavern was a new watering hole we found around the corner from out hotel. I'm glad we walked in sober cause this set up would probablly throw the average drunk.

The burst up there was an old Electra that looked surprisingly cool, wonder how it'd sound with some original double whites? Wanna relic something, hang it from the ceiling of a busy bar. Very cool little place with a couple big wraparound booths in sparkle vinyl tuck n' roll. The bartender had her Powerbook hooked up to the stereo and was wowing us with her eclectic taste and cheerfully joined us in piano bar bashing.

Other spots to mention Checkpoint Charlie, Franky and Johnny's, Snake and Jakes, Cooter Browns, Praline Connection, Uglesich's, uhh, uhh, oh hell I can't remember it all.

It was a pleasure spending time with you and the missus, Stike. I just wish I could have hung out a little longer! Next time, we'll get Cajun Boy and foodermon to hook up as well.

sounds like fun, I need to get down there and hang w/ the Cajuns sometime, Jeff R , I gave the girlfriend of the guitarist for CWTF lessons, she said nobody had ever heard of their band and I said, wait a minute, I know a fan. She had some good stories about that "Jerry" guy

I've always wanted to visit there, hopefully someday. My younger brother still talks about his trip there 8 years ago
