MARKVECTOR82 Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 All of you cats have a truck load of class... I concur Badlands kicked ass the only band i've ever followed around for a month up and down the east coast on the voodoo hwy. tour...got some cool recordings of the tour. saw a few sound checks they always played ZZ's "just got paid" I miss that music form.
DEMENTED Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 Just recieved a DVD of a BADLANDs gig from chicago '91 at the Metro. I'll be making several copies ONCE I find someone with the necessary dub'n equipment. I'd love to see that. I just got a new computer at the cafe. I'll check and see if it has DVD burning capabilities. Yea, me too!!!
Hamer95USA Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Personally, I love the JAKE E LEE BADLANDS era. Similiarly, I love the '90 RIVERDOGS when VIVIAN CAMPBELL played from his heart and not his $$.I even blew-off a U2 concert in april of '91 to watch jake lee at a place in santa clara, ca...that i forget. He smoked 'way too much' on stage, but that strat and marshall combo delivered huge tone and tunes. Hello Kilroy is all about, I believe the club in Santa Clara, CA that you're mentioning is called the Cabaret. It was located 370 Saratoga Ave., San Jose, CA. It was located across the parking lot from the Garden City Casino and has a Harry's Hofbrau resteraunt around the corner. Unfortunately, that club closed down quite a number of years ago. I saw Badlands perform a show there, if that is the same place you're thinking of. Guitar George
Kilroy is all about... Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 GEORGE-No, it was within the 'industrial' section of north santa clara. it must be closed. however, i have a live audience recording of the riverdogs in late 90 in the cabernet as it was a warm-up gig prior to the cheap trick/riverdogs show at the great american amusement park on the 101. i have the cheap trick set, but not the warmup riverdogs set, but the cab' riverdogs set was rocking and sounds decent.cheap trick cancelled a may '92 gig for the san jose cabernet.guitar george...we need to set up a northern california hamer jam!!

Hey kilroy is all about, Ok, the club you're talking about was called the One Step Beyond. That club was located in an industrial section you referred to. Is that the place you were thinking of? They had national acts performing there. It closed about 10 years ago and was owned by John Nady of Nady Wireless Systems. I played that club a number of times with local or national acts. Great place, huge stage & sound systems and many good times there. "Cabernet"? That's a type of wine. You're referring to the Cabaret Nightclub in San Jose. I believe that place was run by a bunch of good fellows, if you know what I mean. They had some mean ass bouncers in that place. Northern California Hamer Jam? Why yes, we can do Thursday night at the St. James Gate w/ Art & Rhonda's Jam Night from 9:30 pm to 1:30 am. Let me know if you're in town. E-mail me and we can talk to them about setting up a Northern California Hamer Jam. Paris Hilton says, "That's hot"!! Guitar George
pesocaster Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Damn.... If anyone wants to swap some boots ... I've got a couple Tommy Bolin boots... I'd love to hear some of the live Badlands...
Tres Aardvarks Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 yeah, that Riverdogs' CD kicked booty. Really dug the songwriting, vocals, and tasty chops Viv displayed on it. Great tone too.
Kilroy is all about... Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 One step beyond...that's the place. Also, saw unplugged mccauley/schenker play there. Most righteous you've played that stage. Sorry about the wine reference...I'm 'dry' during the week, but always look/thinks' about adult beverages after 12pm on fridays. i experienced so many great bay area concerts from late '87 until '93 when i lived in mountainview/san francisco. Where is St James Gate? kilroy .

Where is St James Gate? kilroy . Hey kilroy is all about, St. James Gate is located in Belmont, CA. It's between San Mateo and San Carlos. It's a small city but St. James Gate is cool to hang out at Thursday nights. I'm good friends with Art & Rhonda and their jam nights, on occasion, have had well known musicians sit in with the house band. You never know might show up. Guitar George
