straightblues Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 !!!!!! SOLD AT THE ASKING PRICE !!!! Up for sale, is my Hamer Newport in sparkling orange finish!!! It had Phat Cats in it when I got it and I pulled those and put in a set of TV Jones Classic TV-Trons, a $250 set of pickups. It also has Grover Locking tuners with Mother of Pearl tuner buttons. (I also have the regular set of chrome tuner buttons I could put on it if you prefer them.) I also have two sizes of bigsby strings that I will send with the guitar. It will come with an orginal Hamer case. I would say the condition is good, not mint! It has been played. I have included a lot of pictures for you to review. I will do a complete in hands review with the buyer prior to sell. I got this one from Sir Daniel and it would be nice if it could stay in the Hamer Fan Club family. I am asking $1,000 shipped for this great guitar. I am looking for a US Postal Money Order for this one guys. You can email me at stevefinch101 at hotmail (dot) com
hamerican gigolo Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Newports are the $hit! One of the best additions ever to the Hamer line.
hamerhead Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I've done a few deals with Steve and he's a good guy with great taste in gear.I'd love to help ya out with this one Steve, but that damn Bigsby........
santellavision Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Bigsby's can be great, but you have to mod them first. I learned this trick from Tom Anderson, remove the goofy string end pins and drill out the pin holes all the way through. Then run the strings through the bar. Much better tone transfer and the strings stay tight.
matchful Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 [Good tip. I have a Gretsch that never stays in tune. Thanks, I will try that.

Sigh...
straightblues Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 how Gretsch like does the guitar sound?? Yeah it gets you into the Gretsch category for sure. It sound really great for rockabilly stuff. I have too many guitar (14 right now) so it isn't getting enough playing time. I made the mistake of playing it last night. It sounds soo good that I am now reconsidering selling it. This is one that I will miss for sure. I have had a couple of bites on it but it is still available.
edgar_allan_poe Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I can't believe this is till here. The pickups alone are worth at least $200.
