cmatthes Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Sorry - I don't see these that often so don't really know what they should sell for (I see the JCM 900s all the time). This is the JCM 800 series, 1936 (2x12) cab in really clean original condition. I believe it has the GT-75s.Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks,CM
Jeff R Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I know they aren't as cheap as the one I picked up in the early 90s for $125 in mint condition.I also know they sound practically identical to a Marshall 4x12 but they are a helluva lot easier to carry around...kinda like an ice chest with speakers in it.
Turdus Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Chris --- if memory serves me correctly, and in this case, it may not..... the early 2x12 900 cabs used a JCM800 badge for a few years, before they transitioned to a 1936 badge.I would never pay a premium for any JCM800 cab. Lots of them out there.
cmatthes Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I'll have to get some pics up of it later on...
kurtsstuff Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 If it's clean they usually go for about $200.00-$300.00 or so....
BadJaxx Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 i had a mint one with heavy duty casters and a nice padded LeCover cover listed for $275 +shipping that a local guy finally bought earlier this year...
black magic Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I am actually looking for one and at the time couldn`t afford BadJaxx`s one Chris, I am interested in yours, but I imagine shipping would be brutal on these? How old is it and condition? Does it have English made G12T-75 speakers? Thanks-Jack.
Bass Guy Dave Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I think the difference between the 800 and later series is the 800 were plywood rather than a cheaper (though lighter) grade of wood (Particle board/ MDF? I don't know) I could be wrong, though.I've got a "1936" badged one of the later ones and it's nice and light and sounds nice. It's quite clean and it was $249.00 in a local MGR.I think the 800s had the cup-style single input jack, where the later ones had the 2-input mono/stereo thing jack.Hope it helps, and congrats!Best Wishes

Thanks-Jack. of course, when the guy came over, i had it plugged into my Blues Deluxe with a Fulldrive II in front....was the best it ever sounded....i immediately wondered if i was making a mistake selling it.... the moral here is....if you wish your gear sounded better....sell it, then play it right before shipping or pick up... sold mine cuz i'd bought a THD 2x12 and EH 4x10 cabs...
cmatthes Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 Well - PLENTY of info out there on 4x12 cabs, but not so much on the 2x12s! I guess I could try to date the Celestions, but of course, the Celestion site isn't any help for that either. Here are a coupla pics... Serial is 4696, if that means anything. Back panel doesn't appear to have ever been off before I unscrewed it earlier. The front badge is one of the "JCM 800 Lead Series" deals. This thing sounds flippin' great!

Lots of them out there.Chris -- Here is what I've found. I have two JCM900 catalogs. The first is the 30th Ann. In the "Extension Cabinets" section, the 2x12 is clearly shown with a "JCM 800" badge. The next catalog I have is perhaps '93. The 30th Ann heads are now black vinyl, and the SL-X appears. The 2x12 cab from that catalog has a "1936" badge. The point is that yours could even be early 90's. Other than that, not sure how to date, or put a value on it.
cmatthes Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 Thanks, Chris! I'll check my catalog Archives tonight - didn't even think about the paper stuff - I've got a file cabinet full of that stuff starting in the 60s/70s...
