Bluesking Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I've been playing my Budda Twinmasters exclusively, so this needs to find a home where it's used. Up for grabs is one of the classic all time Marshalls - a 1977 JMP master volume combo. This amp was recently serviced and tuned up (replaced a few caps along with some general maintenance) and is ready to go. All the iron is original and unmodded. Check the pics for tranny codes and inspection sheet (dated 1977). The previous owner converted it to run EL34s rather than the 6550s, which is an improvement to my ears. You could take it back to bone stock with new 6550 tubes and a bias adjustment. Cosmetically, it is in great condition and is a solid 8/10. The lettering on the faceplate is fading a little, but that is pretty much it. The large-check grillcloth has only a few small imperfections that you really have to look for, but in general is in fantastic shape for its age. The speaker "rings" are on the grillcloth (see pic), but I happen to like the vintage vibe. It's hard to believe this amp is 30 years old. These amps are the workhorses of the last 30 years and finding one in this condition that hasn't been cut up for more gain (a la the "80s" mod) is a pretty rare find. The original speakers (which I don't have) have been replaced with a pair of Southbay Ampworks' Scumbacks, which are arguably the best replacements out there for classic Celestions. I've had other JMPs with the stock Celestion 65s, and I think the Scumbacks blow them out of the water. If you want classic Marshall tone that you can control, here it is. Just add the guitar of your choice and you can cop nearly every classic rock and blues rock tone from 1968-1988. It sounds great with all types of pickups, but to my ears, loves humbuckers the best. One nice surprise is the low input channel, which is very warm and sounds great with my 335. Price is $1199 plus $45 DHL shipping. Payment by USPS MO or Paypal (you pay the fees). No trade offers at this time. I'm willing to entertain reasonable offers (please, no low ballers)
Stokesdead Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 That looks sweet. I really like Large check grill cloth
paults Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I had one of these amps until I traded it for a brand new Galien Krueger 250RL, in 1985. It was a good idea at the time....

Wise move! I took my 2104 for a ride with the 4 digit Standard this weekend, and some Lizzy chops. Georgeous classic tones! These amps are "the Hamer´s of Marshall combo's", just tone, tone, tone for the buck.
