serial Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Hamer Miller Beer guitarOnly 1,799.00 !!Not at that price!
straightblues Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 How do these guitars sound and play? Are they comparable to a Special in terms of tone and playability? The price is crazy but I think it would be great to have a guitar like that to play on stage.

Same electronics, etc as a Special. Cool look too.
peedenmark7 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 and I thought I paid too much at 1k for my 3x3 headstock miller music [van temple} 2 years ago. $1700+ for a 6x head is too high, though I do like anything in the highlife motiff... I'm gonna need one of these some day but it will have to have the correct case as theyre a b!tch to find..... come to think of it, I 'd love a gen draft hamer very wild body shape. steve you have a gen draft dont you ? would you please post a pic of it.. theyre awesome !
serial Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 steve you have a gen draft dont you ? would you please post a pic of it.. theyre awesome ! That Van Temple one was cool as hell! $1k isn't bad for one at all-particularly 3+3! Here's the MGD-you're right, a very cool guitar. They only did like two dozen or so of these in all configurations as I understand.
musicman Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Would you post a pic of this Miller Music/Van Temple guitar? Thanks
straightblues Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Were these guitars sold to the public or were they just bought by the beer companies to be given away?
serial Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 The first run (Miller Music) in 1985-1986 was part of a music promotion that involved Hamer, Shure, Miller Beer, Fostex and a few other sponsors. The idea was to promote some unsigned or below the radar bands. The Producers and Del Fuegos were the biggest bands I recall being part of the project. Most of the guitars were made for bands that were on the tour (guitars and basses). I don't know if a few others went to select dealers or not. I think there were a few hundred of the Miller Music/Miller High Life graphic guitars (two different graphics-same guitars). I am not aware of them going to beer companies, but they might have sent some out as promos. The Dean Budweiser/Busch guitars were made just for promotional stuff and are pretty crappy guitars, unlike the Hamers which are built to Hamer's usual high level. I recall seeing the Deans for sale at Busch Gardens in gift shops and there were always giveaways at beer stores for them. The MGD series followed a year or two later (1987) and there are more custom features as the artists had more input. There are some including a lefty 12 string, some with trems, humbuckers or set up like mine with a single coil and a sustain block bridge. Most if not all, had gold hardware that I've seen and they are "bound" with inlaid sterling silver around the edge of the top.
