Zilmo Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 A couple months ago, a member here emailed me and asked me if I could help him out. He wanted some new saddles for the 2Tek bridge on his Cruise bass. I said sure and sent him some at no cost to him. A week later I did a follow-up to make sure he got them OK, and they worked for him. Never heard a word back then or since.A few days ago, a member asked me if I would do a tracing of a guitar part for him and send it to him. I responded that I would be happy to. Never heard back.So my question is,WTF???

frankb Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Sorry to hear that a couple of people didn't respond to your kindness. Could be a by-product of 'everyone is busy' these days....Glad to hear that some folks (zilmo) are still helpful and willing to help somebody else out.

Willie G. Moseley Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 It's my policy to say "thank you" for something that is given to me, even if I didn't ask for it and/or don't want it and/or don't need it. An exception is an album from a p.r. firm where the artist won't fit the format of a periodical for which I write, but that's business; I'm talking personal interaction. All too many people don't seem to know that "thank you" should be requisite, and if someone treats me that way if I give him/her something, more times than not I write him/her off pretty quickly, at least as far as having a decent relationship based on mutual respect. Depends on the circumstances, but the onus is on the other person.
BTMN Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Shouldn't be TO busy to respond with a simple 2 word email that says Thank you as soon as you recieve what ever it is. Especially in the examples given. YMMV as I've read on here before.

phoenix Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 It is part of being unconditionally helpful. Otherwise I feel I am really just trading ( time/stuff for a pat on the back).
