kurtsstuff Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I'm in search of various thickness shims that Hamer used for the locking nuts, I've got a couple Cali's that the nut sits just a tad too high and I can never sand them down and be level.......anybody???
Jem Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I think Allparts or Warmoth your side of the pond are Schaller distributers but they only come something like 0.2 / 0.3 / 0.5mm whereas most of my Cali's have them around 1.3-1.6mm (the Hamer one's aren't shop brought, i'd say they thicknessed them themselves) so i end up thickenessing either off cuts of ebony or scratchplate (pickguard to you lot) to get the height.Jem
BCR Greg Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Go to a hobby shop and buy brass sheets in various thicknesses.

Jeff R Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I cut my own shims out of empty beer cans. I've cut little tiny ones in the past as Floyd saddle shims to match the bridge's radius to the fretboard's radius better (wasn't a Hamer).
kizanski Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I cut my own shims out of empty beer cans. Wow! Where would you ever get your hands on one of those??
