can somebody tell me which font Hamer uses for their logo?

Bookman Italic I think.......

Bookman BOLD Italic.

You may need to go with a Serif option to get everything you need (for the "H" and "R"). I've seen the BBI font done without that option.

Is that Bookman Old Style? The font that comes with XP? What does serif mean in this context?

"Serif" refers to the little lines at the top and bottom of each letter.

Times New Roman has a serif on most letters. Arial does not.

Bookman Bold Italic is the font, not Bookman Old Style or anything else. Companies like Letraset made press type dry transfer letters for graphics work before computes became common. The are likely the company making the headstock logos for Hamer now. I do not know if you can still by their press type letters. I have doubts about that.

I once downloaded the trademarked Hamer USA logo from an official government site, but I can't find it now. I can only find their application/approval info, no image. I could email you the image if you need it.
