Scooter Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I found a great deal and want to share: AB Custom Audio I've had this Red Ampeg head for a while and always wanted to get a red 2X12 to go with it. I found the prices of AB Custom Audio to be too good to pass up, so I took a chance. I had them build me a 2x12 cab and loved it so much that I sent them a head cab to recover and had them build a second 2x12. The quality is outstanding. Birch ply, strong joints, quality handles, castors, wiring, etc.. The Tolex covering is flawless. They will build the cabs to your specs and charge NEXT TO NOTHING! Plus, they only take about a week turnaround. Lots of Tolex choices as well. http://www.abcustomaudio.net/ The only criticisms I have are that you have to be VERY specific about what you want, and you will have to remind them a few times (I guess they are pretty busy), and their website is low-budget. Other than that, I can't recommend them highly enough!

What is the neck profile like?Don't think they'll make any more of this model (at least that's what they told me). They made 2 of them and the other one belongs to another forum member. The neck is on the thinner side, which sucks for me.I'd also add that I had to replace EVERY piece of hardware and electronics. But it's cool now.Here's the link.

I've A-B-C'd them against a Genz Benz G-Flex and a Mesa Recto 2X12. The GB had the most low end. These matched up pretty equal to the Mesa.Honestly, if you're going to do all-out metal, get a 4X12. AB Custom makes 4X12's as well - IN SNAKESKIN!
