WTF? >2,000 for a non set neck, non-flame bodied cali? I couldn't give my elite away a few years back for <$600. Holy crap.

No offense to the buyer or seller, but if my wife told me she'd spent $2100+ for a bolt-on, no flame, Cali. for me I would be seriously p.... well, let's just say I wouldn't be very happy about it, new Cali. for Christmas, or not.

And this is whats wrong with the world........ ;)

I'm sorry you disagree, but that's "not what's wrong with the world".

I believe what we've all talked about happening is starting to happen re. the values of Calis. The other shredders usually don't keep up with the Calis in price and I don't think they ever will. The all-flame maple setneck Chap Custom I have is one hot guitar BUT the Cali is like the Chaps younger, hotter, faster sister!! The granite finish on it was more common on other shredders than the Cali. I think the flame maple bodied chaps will also rise up to over $3k before we know it. They don't make 'em any more so every year they become more valuable. I actually, think they could get the kind of money to make it worth their while for Calis again but we've already beat that horse to death many times!

The Californian Model is approaching the value of a new guitar "back in the day"

The way I remember it back in the 80's, I just couldnt afford the 1800.00+ for a new Cali...its not that i didnt want one. .just couldnt afford it. Picking up a Californian for 500 bucks is almost rediculous really but it happened as well maybe when the model was a bit overlooked or "forgotten". Seems a lot of us are remembering another awesome guitar the Hamer folks made for us back then. to get one for less than the new price is "nice" but many including me would pay the price of a new premium guitar.

Lets be honest. .if Hamer would do a limited run of Custom Cali's . . most of us would be in line. I'll take mine bound and boomered with gold hardware and a AAAA top thank you ;).

To out this into perspective, I wonder if Kurt's SO gave him a $2000 50w Dual-Master Volume JCM 900 would he "happy" about it?

Now I don't mean he would say anything other than "Thanks honey, I love it.", 'cause those are the exact words that would come out my mouth, but I'd be willing to bet that he wouldn't be exactly thrilled about it either. That's all I meant.

If LadyScary thought the guitar was priced right, then that's all that matters.

Actually, i was expecting it to get a little higher than my first bid, but you try watching it go up in price almost $1000 in the last 15 seconds. That was a real shocker ;)
