I absolutely love that! Too bad for me that you need the cash because I have some geetars that might appeal to you on trade.

But I'm trying to hook you up with a friend who is a potential buyer. Check your email.

What are the differences between the '58 and the '59 Historics?

Yep -- $2-3000. In 2001 the line between them was seriously blurred because of the flametops on the 58s, which is why 58s are now plaintops. Necks on 58s are slightly larger than 59s too.

Well the biggest diff in current production is the R8s are plaintops. The last year for flamed / figured R8s was 2002.

The pre-'03 R8s generally have slightly bigger necks than R9s, though this is a generalization and none of the necks on my 3 R8s (all '01s btw) are real clubby. Then, the quality of the figuring was supposed to be lower than with R9s, but many have liked the R8 tops as good or better because they tend to look more like the real ones...

Look at the low key, old looking top on this 8.3 lb beauty...

Then, some like this 8.8 lb '01 Custom Authentic have that wide ribbon flame that I love...

And I like the mini gull wing top on this 8.4 lb darkburst '01 too...

I think the flametop R8s are the best deal going in a Gibson 'Burst reissue. I think that's why Gibson scrapped the flametop models - too much competition for the more expensive sister.
