sonic1974 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Very clean McCarty Soapbar. Gorgeous. McCarty Burst Wide/fat neck. $1400 David, How would you compare that in tone and playability to the Studio Custom you sold me? I've never really tried a good PRS. By the way, the SC rocks, love the tone. p.s. thanks again for your patience with the situation with those paypal goofballs. Rob B. in Ottawa Canada
DavidE Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 What is it with me and shipping guitars to Canada? Oy.... If I can show up at the post office when the line isn't 2 hours long (I'm not kidding), I have another I'm trying to ship up there now. Maybe Monday???Anyway, I find the wide fat PRS neck to be pretty comparable to the mid 90's Hamer necks. The wide/fat feels perfect to me. I don't think there would be any playing adjustment. The McCarty guitars are just excellent and superior guitars, even in the PRS line. I should replace one of my Custom 22s with a McCarty trem. Anyway, this McCarty has P90s, so it's going to be quite different from the Studio Custom. Much fatter than something like a strat, but think single coil on steroids.
atquinn Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I should replace one of my Custom 22s with a DGT. Fixed! That's a beautiful McSoapy! -Austin

sonic1974 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Sounds cool. My buddy has an SG with P-90s. Raunchy sound, I love it and it's become his number 1. Do all the McCarty models come with that type of bridge, or do they do the tunomatic as well? I'm thinking of getting new pickups for the SC, not too sure though. Love the neck, the bridge sounds good for rhythm, but I'd like maybe a bit more oomph out of it for leads. Shipping today? Do you have a masochistic streak in you? ouch, wait till after Christmas my good man. peace, rob
cmatthes Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I haven't tried a DGT. Yet.....Look out when you do...That was the ONE PRS that blew me away at the Experience PRS shindig. That guitar has "IT".
