I strongly disagree with this point. I'm no doc, nor am I a smoker - never even tried a cigarette -

Chris... I should call you a Pussy, but you are too good a friend, lol.

I've got mixed feelings....I smoke, but my house is smoke-free, even in the deep freeze winter  its weird to smoke indoors now.

A smoke free room makes for MUCH easier singing....but there isn't anyone there! The crowds are alot smaller, but I don't know if its just the smoking ban.....cops park outside clubs just waiting for anyone to give them an excuse -ANY reason at all to pull them over (A departure from the topic but it IS related).

Nonsmokers are NOT coming out to the bars now that 'they can'. People who want to get loaded, party and dance on tables don't come out anymore...they end up in jail for trying to drive home.....not many people budget $30-40 for a cab ride.

The smoking ban IS another step towards the prohibition state.

I find it amusing that people are getting more relaxed attitudes about marijuana (in general) yet the anti-smoking (cigarette)crusade is kicking ass.... WTF???

I smoke pot too...

Well if the dum dums up here would ever figure out that those smoking areas are good for meeting women - all crammed together in there and ample chance for conversation without having to yell over that raging full stack of yours Eric :huh: . Did you get followed the other night after leaving? I did. All the way to my driveway. It's ridiculous.

Only for a mile or so then he whipped a u-turn & nailed someone headed northbound....good thing I fixed that tail-light

Several points I'd like to make about smoking bans -

1) If you're stupid enough to volunteer for a case of cancer, I don't want to hear your logic as to why you should be allowed to do it around me. I have no doubt your argument will be flawed.

2) If I walked up to you in a bar and poured a known carcinogen into your beer, you'd probably think I was a jerk. But smokers seem to think it's OK to pump carcinogens into my lungs. I want to go out and listen to music without inhaling your stupidity.

Seriously, very few activities make less sense than smoking tobacco. I've seen 3 family members die of cancer and it absolutely boggles my mind that people willingly ask for it. Then they'll stand up and insist they have a right to do it in a manner that jeopardizes other people's health as well.

Political correctness? Try a logical response to selfish, addicted morons. Do whatever you want inside your own home but in an enclosed place that's open to the public, I'm all for the ban. Going out here in Austin is much better since the smokers got kicked outside.

P.S. All your old cigarette butts are really nasty too.

Good points! As an ex. smoker I still enjoy a cigarette now and then. But I think the tobacco companies are very cynical people, and I love to see them go out of business. It is also nice to wake up after a night out without that super hangover that comes from active, (and inactive) smoking.

BTW, I have an unoppened package of nice cuban cigars in the fridge, bought on Havannas airport. If anyone is interested in buying. I aint gonna smoke 'em, bought them on a whim.

This Marylander visited Jacksonville in late December. I'd forgotten how bad the smoky smell can get!

After several hours in three smoky pool rooms, I returned to the hotel bar for a beer.

A couple sat down next to me, but moved before their drinks arrived because I reeked! Second-hand stench was more like it!

As a non-smoker, I love the ban!

The extremes on either side are a pain in the ass. In my little trio of a band we've got one smoker and one ex-smoker who is a militant anti-smoker. This means we have to travel to gigs in at least two cars, have to book two hotel rooms when traveling. Sheesh.

My complaint? Like someone mentioned, cig butts on the road, hundreds at every intersection. I'm pretty sure every car sold today has an ashtray.
