Talladega weight

OK Talladega owners, what does yours weigh? I'll admit, I don't know what any of my guitars weigh, unless the dealer specifically weighed it, and told me. The reason for my curiosity is while surfing the web I noticed some dealers post the weights of their guitars, all of them. One Tally weighed 1 pound more than most of the rest. Seemed like a big diference for a chambered guitar, so I started wondering what they generally weigh. So if you know or are willing to find out let's hear it !

I can't remember exactly what the one's I've had in where, but I wanna say 7-8lb range.

Got mine from Greg at BCR (first one with neck binding ever made) Mine weighs in at just UNDER 7 lbs. Perfectly balanced and one of THE most comfortable guitars I have ever played.

Mine is 3,4 kg, should be about 7 lbs

I don't trust my bathroom scale for something this light. But it balances perfectly. And that's something I was a little concerned with given the maple neck and chambered body. But it's one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played.

I usually (there are a few exceptions) tend not to trust dealers that do not proactively post weights on guitars anymore, when they advertise them individually. At this point in the game, all retailers know it is important for many people. If they do not post it, I assume it is a very heavy guitar, and do not even bother.

That is also why I would not buy a guitar from Musicianfriend, or those mass sellers. How in heck would I know which one would I get, from the bunch they have? Guitars vary a lot, even within the same brand and model.

I can't imagine a delaer breaking open a box just to weigh a guitar. I assume that the dealers (that actually post any weight at all) tend to cite one of two figures: a) the shipping weight of guitar in case, or :) the manufacturer's specs. these numbers would tend to wander.

Buzzy,

Dealers that post pics of their guitars have an opportunity to weigh them as well! Some post the weights with their pictures while others just record the info for later use. Most will weigh if you ask. I'm sure this stems from the obssession with LP weights. Like I said, I don't think it really matters, but was curious because of the pound diffence in a chambered guitar.

On my bathroom scale, my Talladega weighed 7 pounds. Then I hopped on. I weighed 230. Holding my Talladega, together we weighed 237. I'd say that's close enough for me to call.

Travis's Talladega = 7 pounds.

Greg at BCR will weigh his Tally's for you on an accurate digital scale, and you can take what he tells you to the bank!! Great guy, super service. Why screw around? Just buy a Tally from him.

Greg is a great guy and I have purchased from him... but what does that have to do with what Talladegas weigh in general. I am asking out of curiosity.. I am not making the assumption that lighter or heavier guitars necessarily sound better, different maybe. There are too many reports of the 10# LP sounding great and the 8#er just ok,but I appreciate your endorsement of Greg's shop :)

I thought you were in the market for one and wanted a lighter example.

I mentioned Greg based on the fact that he would give YOU (or anyone else) and HONEST answer. Do you have a Tally now?

I don't have a Tally now and I am looking for one. I don't know if I prefer a lighter one or heavier one. I am sure each example is diferent! My T51 is heavy but balances well and sounds great, not only does it get traditional Tele tones it also gets a thicker tone that I attribute to the weight. I was surprised by the noted weight differences and wondered if this was unusal in a chambered guitar.
