cmatthes Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Don't know if this has been posted before or if this guy was an employee @ Hamer, but.... http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Dave-Suit-Standar...p3286.m20.l1116 Yep: Earlier HFC Link on crack-inspired auction Can someone please explain to me what the hell "plays like butter" means???? That's easy. It means it has tons of "mojo" and "vibe". This is essential for all non-players, who consider buttery playing, mojo and vibe to be the holy trinity of characteristics that add up to a guitar they'll end up paying too much for. A savvy dealer/seller recognizes this fact, and will often kindly point it out, to the delight of internet gear hounds. The only thing that trumps this elite threesome is the elusive "Royal Flush", which works in either "Jimi Vibe", "SRV Vibe" or " * insert iconic player here * Vibe". Or a robot guitar/mp3 player.
mirrorimij Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I never heard of Dave but that doesn't mean he didn't work there. I was at Hamer from 1992 -2000 and a lot of previous employees were discussed but I can't recall Dave Suit.FWIW, that guitar shop is about 5 minutes from my house. I would be happy to check it out if anyone is interested. Since my left arm is in a cast I can't play it but would be happy to give an in hand description.I have no affiliation with the guitar or seller.
cmatthes Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Seriously, Bob - you DO NOT want to get butter on your cast! (let us know if you do get to check it out) I don't think it is remotely reasonable to ask 4-digit Standard prices for what is essentially a copy of a 4-digit Standard - especially one by an unknown builder and with an aftermarket Kahler. Just my $0.02...
