....from aheart attack at 62. Jeez, they're dropping like flies.

I always dug Kelly's playing, especially on A New World Record.

I will miss bassiness.

Wow.

Kelly was a really talented and tasteful player, and will definitely be missed.

I was just speaking about him (and Gordon Townsend) with my kids' guitar teacher (P. Hux) last week after lessons. They all played together in ELO2/The Orchestra from 2000 until a year or so ago, but remained close friends. Hux is currently recording a CD with Gordon, and I was hoping to hear some pre-production stuff from it next week, which is why that all came up.

Very sad news.

Shit!!! That is some really sad news. ELO is one of my all time favorites. Kelly was a great player, but do not forget his vocals. He actually sang some leads as well.

Just got this emailed to me. Very touching, and a little insight into the man from a bandmate and friend:

Me too. ELO was the first band I truly loved. I had the opportunity to see them live in 1992, sans-Lynne. Did not matter too much, the band sounded great, and Groucutt handled all vocal duties very well.

RIP. :D

In 1974 I was 16 years old. I went to a Deep Purple concert at the Seattle Coliseum and ELO was the opening act. That concert was an awakening for me. I ran out and bought "Eldorado" and listened to it to the point that I wore it out. Seems like a long time ago, I guess it was.

RIP.
