  1. Thanks Andy! Yeah, I think those bird pups are going in a Jazz bass I'm tricking out! @Chromium: Heather poly would look good,I think that's what I'll go with. Ditto on the 3-point!
  2. Can't wait to see how that comes out. My dream B4S would be something along the lines of the Pete Farndon bass. Sounds an awful lot like what you described... Yep, can't do the pink though, thinking of a pearlescent lavender or burgundy mist. Also, I'm gonna use a Warwick 2 piece bridge/tailpiece instead of the 3 point like on Farndon's.
  3. Those little Slammer SB4's are really great as is, especially with flats. Tons of deep, robust low end out of 'em. I really like the necks on those, in fact, I'm getting ready to have a luthier buddy of mine reshape the headstock on one of those into a shrimpfork and set it into a mahog special body with a single X2N. I'll post some pics as the project develops. (maybe I should drop in those T-Bird pups I got from you;}) Really nice basses, Andy!
  4. Sounds more like "Time In A Bottle" to me, maybe they should sue Jim Croce's estate instead.
  5. My favorite short solo (and indeed, nearly favorite of any length) would be that in Led Zeppelin's "Tangerine" just because it's so beautiful and perfect for the song. It's just "right" somehow. T
  6. First, I cranked my Rickenbacker 4003 through my Hiwatt stack...then, after the mail ran, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new Field Music cd "Plumb" that i ordered had arrived, so then I cranked that. Very good day! T
  7. Bozzio or BUST!!! Dude! Ya beat me to it! Terry Bozzio smokes everybody IMO. Never could get into DT...all great players for sure, but the music/lyrical concepts are a little to hokie for me and I never could get past whatever awful singer they had at any given time. T
  8. Hemispheres is better, IMO. Both are pretty corny though. Just buy Yes' Relayer and get the real deal straight fom the source. T
  9. When I saw the thread title I thought piano, then I see Poe's post. Im with him, having a masterful singing voice would definitely open a lot of doors for me. Piano would be second. T
  10. JGale, I couldn't agree with you more. Yep, this. T
  11. Babs is incredible! I don't know the names of any of her albums, but I would guess her best work was in the 60's to early 70's. She as a singer and Paul Williams as a writer are a force to be reckoned with! Edited to add, I would rather listen to Babs ANY day over Nickleback. T
  12. "Know Who You Are" by Supertramp "Don't Hang Up" and "Fresh Air for My Mother" by 10cc "Aurora" by Bjork "Soft As A Dove" by Yes ...I'll think of more later. T
  13. Dude, those things almost never appear, and when they do they cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Your best bet is to buy one of Mike Lull's T-bird pups (check out the Lull bass site). They are faithful recreations of 60's nickle plated pups. He makes the rings too. IIRC they're around $300. T
