tomteriffic Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 This is what happens when I go looking for a mic down in Buzzard Gulch. I find everything but what I'm looking for. But I found a lot of stuff that I'm just not using, was bought for a specific project and never used again, etc. Most of the vocal mics were purchased to equip my annual invitational jam in the country and were either used once or twice, or sometimes not at all. Some are like new, some have been around. All are in good working order and come with clips/bags as shown. All prices are shipped USPS to the CONUS. Cash, USPS MO or Paypal if you add the fee. Check OK if I know you. Hit me at tomteriffic AT earthlink DOT net (note the intentional mis-spelling of "teriffic") First off, a batch of pairs of (super) cardioid vocal mics: AKG D68S, On-Off switches, very clean, only one bag, though. $70 for the pair. Audix OM-5's Very high quality supercardioid dynamic vocal mike, nearly feedback-proof. Like new, one factory, one non-factory bag. SOLD!! Sennheiser 835S's. Got these from SirDan, used one of them once, didn't suit my voice. Unusual in that they have the On-Off switches. No clips, factory bags. Musician's fiend is getting $230 for a three pack without switches, so, SOLD!! Pic for these three pairs: Next up: a few oddball/specialty jobs: EV BK-1, aka the Black Knight. Cardioid condenser vocal or instrument mic. John McCuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) used this very mic on banjo, mandolin and acoustic guitar, in lieu of a Neumann KM 84 one night at an outdoor show. He loved it, and tried to buy it from me on the spot. It has an on-off switch and can be battery or phantom powered. However, the battery is an expensive oddball type and it's damn near impossible to get at. Use phantom. It's an excellent, tough, great-sounding mike that will stand up to the road. Obviously, it's a very good acoustic instrument mike too. Clip and factory bag, some scratches on the case $100 Crown CM-100 Omnidirectional PZM mic. Everybody needs an omni mic in their trick bag and this is a good one to begin with. Phantom powered only, excellent natural reproduction on acoustic instruments, group vocals, etc. Or hang this overhead and use the AKG D112E (below) for a quick and dirty good demo drum sound. Clip and factory bag, some minor dings at the connector end. $85 Shure Beta Green BG-5 cardioid condensor. This was the budget version of their SM-87 back when. Very good for male vocals and duos. Another decent budget condensor, but not as roadworthy as the EV BK-1. I bought it used, but only used it on some voice-overs and backup vocals. AA battery or phantom power. On-off switch, the cordura case is a bit dusty, a few scratches on the body. $45 Here's the pic: Final batch: On the left is an AKG D112E "Goose Egg" kick drum mic. It almost pains me to say it, but, if you're reading this, you probably know what it is. Optimized for kick with depressed mids and enhanced lows and "beater tick" region. I've also used it on a bass cab and a tuba. This one shows some wear but it's minor. No clip. SOLD! Finally.... The mighty EV PL-20. This is the stage version of the RE-20 that is still probably the most used radio microphone in existence. Different color, otherwise identical. This is a cardioid dynamic with no proximity effect and very flat response. Like many EV's of it's day, it's also bulletproof. Because of this it was The kick drum mike in the 80's I never used it that way, though. In fact, I think I used it once in all the years I've owned it. It comes with the hard-to-find suspended shock mount cage, factory bag/soft case and heavy model-specific stand mount clip. The current model without the shockmount goes for $400 at the Fiend, and, (I'm told by some folks that ought to know) doesn't sound as good. Get this with the shockmount for less than half, SOLD! Here's the pic of these two: Get me at: tomteriffic AT earthlink DOT net.

tomteriffic Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 damn how did i miss this thread? Al, just lucky, I guess? Tom. Why do you hate the Irish so? Swabbie, it must be some sorta self-loathing thing if I do. The AKG starter vocal mics, as well as all of the condensors/PZM are still available.
