Scarabaeus Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Hamer standart ca. 1980 flametop explorer (no gibson) serial number 0339 That is some serious $ for one given its condition, wear, and modifications. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7304433582&rd=1
BTMN Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=300 Looks like our Swedish friend Disturber got it. Name change there Scarab?
kizanski Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 This translation is pretty funny:the halspickup was broken, was traded against the bridgepickup, sits here now a dimarzio superdistortionThe broken pu is enclosed, a spool is know come defective, perhaps an after packing, the original pickups also of dimarzio, were however weaker than the superdistortion. Unfortunately the before owner incorporated once other pickups and enlarged to this the fräsung, sees one it however external only at a minus game at the rear pickuprahmen. In spite of that measurements not exactly slight the guitar it is more easily than each paula and hangs perfectly balanced. One finds only very heavily Hamers out of the time when the companies yet hand maggot worked and produced no metalgeigen how later, when they were received by kaman. You offer here on a real Player with collector qualities, that appraise yet will climb certainly in that. Private sale therefore no guarantee or withdrawal, you know that already."I don't too many mods other than the enlarged route for the replaced bridge pickup. Id rather see that than a Kahler route or a headstock repair.I think Disturber did very well to get any unbroken 4 Digit Standard for under $2500, and I think any of us would line up to throw another $500 his way if he doesn't like it.
Buzzy Fretts Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Yeah but what about that damn hand maggot? I'm not sure I could look past that.
serial Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 That's a score. Those are such cool guitars! The maggot hand work is a feature that was incorporated in early '80 IIRC.
RacerX Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 The wear and a little pickup hole tinkering didn't bother me much, I took a shot at it. The problem for me was getting it here from there could get expensive and risk a break. With the dollar vs euro not in our favor these are going to be hard to bring back home. Good opportunities for our European bro's though!Maybe the next one....Mark.
