Exodus5 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I am looking for a Vandenberg model. No v-types. I can pay a fair price or trade my 90's Hamer (USA) Centaura in Tobacco-burst with EMG H-S-S, which is in Mint condition.
livewire Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I have one in gloss black, all original and in great condition. It does have dunlop strap buttons on it, but I still have the schallers. 000034XX serial number. Missing trem arm and original plastic ABS type case. The arm is available online as well as the newer v-type case
e-isle rock Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I used to have one. They have an extremely fast neck IMO.
Exodus5 Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 I worked late and didn't get pictures to put up yet. I'll do it this afternoon. In the meantime, the guitar in this craigslist post is identical except mine is in better shape and has EMG's.http://denver.craigslist.org/msg/1414774456.html
Michael Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I used to work in a music store that carried Peavey guitars and amps back in the late `80's/early `90's. We got one of the Vandenberg guitars in and it sat until the store closed for business. Forever it sat there. Some guys would play it but no one wanted to spend the cash at that time. Same with the 5150. With the dual cabinets it was as big as a house as I remember, but nobody bought that either. I was playing weekends with a Telecaster and a tweed Vibrolux; the Peavey gear was a bit more than I needed! If I'd have known they'd have been worth big bucks today... same old story! Nice guitar though; it was so shiny I didn't want to touch it. I hope you get one.
Armitage Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Here's my neck thru... love it. Two rippin pickups, two volume controls and split switch, mahogany body, ebony board, deep cutaway, and for some strange reason... the previous owner put in the second strap button on the lower horn...

fruhike Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Those are the neck through models. I love these guitars. I have a black one like the one pictured above, except the first series. Great bang for the buck. I would love to get one of those purple quilted neck through models some day.
Exodus5 Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Finally got some time to take pictures:

Nice guitar though; it was so shiny I didn't want to touch it. I hope you get one.My original Vandenberg was the "Rock-It" pink and it also sat in a store in the foothills of NC for probably 4 years before I finally decided to buy it and put up with the comments on the color. That is the guitar I learned on and I want it back but, lets face it, I'll probably never find a guitar I traded in at a music/pawn shop in 1994. I really wish I could, though. I'd give my Hamer for that guitar in 0.01 seconds just due to the sentimental value.
ZR Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Those PV's Vandenbergs are pretty cool. I had a Destiny from the same era and it was a nice set-neck shredder. Hey, Exodus 5, what kind of bike do you ride? How do you like your jacket? You can PM or E me if you think I'm derailing your thread. The Centaura is a nice one too. That model was my first Hamer...Toby's got it in Korea now.
HAMERMAN Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Very nice Vandenberg's. Those and Kramer Nightswan's are still just about the only guitars that look right to me with a reverse headstock.
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Got one. Thanks everybody.Pictures? Link (if you got it on eBay)? Story (Did you trade your Centaura for it?)?
Exodus5 Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Got one. Thanks everybody.Pictures? Link (if you got it on eBay)? Story (Did you trade your Centaura for it?)?It's a private sale. Pictures weren't too great so I'll get some up when I receive it. It is in great shape except a few paint chips around volume and input jack so, not as nice as others I've spoken to people about. I did not have to trade my Centaura. I played my Hamer for the first time in a while after speaking to a few guys about it and decided it's a keeper. My PRS Tremonti SE, however, is up on the sales block. I put emg's and locking tuners on it. I put it up on Harmony-central to get my money out of it.
